Keep calm with On the Beach

Keep Calm with On the Beach

Looking after your mental wellbeing is different for everyone. There are plenty of tips online around positive thinking and how to stay mindful, but everybody is different which means our minds react differently to different methods. This is why we think it’s a good idea to hear from other people’s experiences, as some people might benefit from taking up a hobby, whereas meditation might be the key for others.

As part of our idea around taking a Virtual Beach Break to calm your mind, we thought we'd ask our On the Beach employees for some tips and tricks that they like to follow to keep their mental wellbeing in check.

Jamie

"For the last month or so I’ve been practicing the Wim Hof Method, which is pretty cool. It’s basically a (mostly) daily routine of breathing exercises, meditation and cold showers, which has been reported to have multiple positive effects on your body: including boosting energy levels and improving sleep quality."

Josh

"Whenever I find things getting on top of me I head outside for some fresh air and to watch the world go by. Even just five minutes can work wonders and allows you to reset and regain focus."

Wendy

"Starting my day off with a gym class gets me ready and motivated for the day ahead!"

Ronnie

"In our team I do try to keep the positivity high. So whether I’m feeling down and need a little pick me up, or my team are going through a hard day, I find a positive saying or quote and send this to everyone with the hope it makes someone smile - and if it does happy days! I just think reading positive thoughts make you instantly happy and lifts you up from the inside. My new favorite is “Be the energy you want to attract” as it just reminds us to be nice to whoever we interact with throughout the day."

"Recently, I've received a positivity package from one of my friends from work (she knows me so well!) which included lots of fun stuff to help you relax and one of the things in there was the “Key to Positivity”. I think it’s really important to try and stay positive during these uncertain times and support each other where possible, you never know how other people might be feeling so stay kind to one another!"

Jodie

"I surround myself with positive people who encourage me to have a positive outlook on life."

Johnson

"I have to stay active to keep my mind from wandering. After work, I would usually go to a café to grab a coffee, most of the time with a friend, and then head over to the gym for an hour or so. This really helps me when I’m feeling bored, tired or even just lazy in general. Oh…and food of course! A great meal with friends always helps."
