WeatherThe weather in Gerona and in the Costa Brava as a whole enjoys a Mediterranean climate with long hot summers and mild winters, located in Spain’s northernmost east coast resulting in it being cooler and wetter than the other Costas. During the summer months of June through to September, Costa Brava boasts beautiful sunshine with temperatures averaging at 25°C. The sea temperature is at its warmest during August, however you can swim throughout the season comfortably. Rainfall is low during summer. In October and November, the temperatures begin to cool, ranging from 21°C in October and 16°C in November. October is the wettest month of the year, and you may experience thunderstorms. The winter months, December until February can get quite cold with temperatures ranging from 7-13°C. January is the coldest months and can even get a touch of frost. Although the weather is cooler, it is still much nicer than the cold British winter weather, so the Costa Brava is still popular during these months. Spring is wetter than winter in Costa Brava however the temperatures and amount of sunshine does increase with temperatures ranging from 16°C in March, 18°C in April and 21°C in May.

The resort of Blanes is located on the coast 60km north of Barcelona and is a fantastic trip if you are looking for a quiet resort with lots to do. The Mari Mirtra gardens are a beautiful attraction if you enjoy nature and amazing scenery and if you enjoy these you should also go to the Pinya Rosa Gardens. There are also some intriguing historical buildings to investigate in the resort which you will enjoy discovering. The charming little town of Roses is located in a bay to the north of Costa Brava and only 30km from the French border. You will find a rich history in Roses, such as the Citadel which is in the east of the town and built almost 500 years ago. Also boasting two natural reserves that are incredibly popular with bird watchers and idyllic beaches. Santa Susanna is just a few kms south of Lloret and is a walled town set back from the beach. You will find near by attractions including Marineworld Aquarium and the Water World slide park. Water World is located just before you arrive in Lloret De Mar and is perfect for a family day trip! With lots of water rides, tubes, rapids, wave pools and jacuzzi’s there is something for everyone, even if you aren’t a confident swimmer or have small children. Tossa de Mar is located 20km north of Lloret de Mar and is ideal if you enjoy looking into the history and culture of the area. Villa Vella is the old quarter and boasts a medieval castle that dates back 1000 years.
