Great Hotel

6 March 2015

We stayed here June 2014 for one week and enjoyed it so much that we went back in August for a further 11 days. The rooms were immaculate and were cleaned on a daily basis with a good supply of clean...

WE stayed at hotel April 6-11 2015 enjoyed it very much never had stayed in Playa de Carmen it is a slower pace then staying in Cancun. Our check in went very well only thing our room was it have a free up grade because of being a baby boomer. But was told that had to be booked way We must have not read their web sight which all we had to do is tell them we were over 60. Oh well the room was very clean quite on the first floor. Food was normal buffett but was good. The pool was kind of small and no swim up bar. Beach is very nice chairs under shade was great. As other reviews have stated you are getting a 3-4 star not a 5.

best 3star on the island

4 March 2015

have stayed at this hotel before and am going back this year the entertainment was better than we have had in a 5star hotel the staff are lovely it is very clean and you are so local to the beach and...

My husband, 14yr old daughter and I just returned 3 days ago from our 2nd trip to Playa del Carmen. We returned again this year because we love the area & have had great experiences. For the past month, I have been reading reviews of other travelers and most seemed positive. Our stay wasn't bad but rather really disappointing given the reputation of the Wyndham Resorts worldwide. I really expected that this resort would live up to their reputation but it fell short: Pro's Entertainment staff were great! Very outgoing & energetic - Gina, Lauren, Mario, Octavio, Oswaldo, Jasmine, Caesar and the rest of the crew worked 18 hrs a day to take care of the guests. Great location Easy Check in Wifi worked well in the lobby Grounds were well kept Beds were comfortable The food at the Bamboo (a la carte restaurant) was amazing Mexacali bar staff were very attentive Con's Lots of food at the buffet but it was bland, over cooked or the bread was stale. Same assortment of food day after day. 24hr pool/snack bar had the same food day after day - pizza, burgers (rock hard) & stir fry. Had to ask the front desk for face cloths everyday - on day 3 of asking, I was told face cloths were only for VIP guests but she would see what she could do. Not enough pool chairs - all are taken by 7am Extra charge for in-room safe If location is your only consideration, then this hotel is fine. My family is not picky at all when it comes to food...If the food is an important consideration for you, then I would not recommend this resort at all.

great stay

1 March 2015

stayed here October great hotel, food was lovely , staff very helpful, got in room 1230, had great room with pool view, entertainment was excellent. less than 5 mins from beach, 10 min walk to magalu...

My husband and I just returned from a week at this resort. We were in room 1217. We stayed from the 15th of April, 2015 to 22nd of April, 2015. The staff were very nice. No complaints about that. Rooms were average but very clean. We had an incident the first two nights with an employee who was trying to get into our room once we were already asleep. Apparently there was alot of confusion over a the dehumidifier in our room...Did not appreciate her trying to get in. Lucky we had the deadbolt on the door! The third night she actually knocked so i answered and told her that I had unplugged the stupid dehumidifier already. I get the sense that they wanted it on during the day but off at night? I do not know. But please talk to your staff about this problem. I am sorry to say the variety of food offered here is very repetitive. Please add some variety to your menus! Eggs can be cooked for you fresh....why not the pancakes and french toast? Coffee is indeed terrible....just like another review! Something a little stronger perhaps? Could guests get a coffee maker in their rooms if they are in a habit of getting up two hours before breakfast bell? That would be nice. And why only 1 bottle of water for two adults in a room? I don't get that. As mentioned earlier, beautiful beach, nice pool, and beautiful scenery. We like smaller resorts. Staff were excellent! Enjoyed the entertainment/dance team.

Overall we had a great time!

28 February 2015

We stayed here June 2014 (10th -24th). Overall we had a brilliant holiday, as your holiday is what you make it!! I emailed the hotel prior to our trip, asking for a 3rd or 4th floor room (as I’m...

I'll start with the positive- great place to stay! Very good food. We could always find something we really liked! Loved the grilled food like the pork chops, steaks and fish. The Italian restaurant was wonderful! Very clean resort! Great service from everyone there! We loved that it was small enough that it was quick to walk anywhere, not loud and could always find a chair on the beach. The negatives- we booked through Expedia and got a great deal. We paid about 30% more ($350 more) to have an ocean view and king sized bed. We were in room 1102 and you could see maybe one inch of the ocean from our room and we had 2 queen beds. We went back to the front desk to say we had requested a king ocean view. Of course there was nothing available until the next day and it was a king with no ocean view. We ended up just staying where we were at. The lady at the front desk said they don't have very many ocean view with king beds. I just think they shouldn't offer something that's not available. We loved our room for the convenience to the pool and the beach but I wish we would've saved the $350. I honestly think there were maybe 4 rooms at the whole resort that would have a good beach view. Make sure you know that before paying extra to book an ocean view! As many have also said about them charging $2 a day for the safe. We declined and they still tried to charge us. We had to ask for the manager to make it clear that it was never even opened! We only went to the show one night the 'Circus' night and it was not good. And we are pretty to please! :) We would definitely visit this resort again but it wouldn't be our first choice. There's nothing 'fancy' about this place. Very much a 3 star resort. But still a very great time!
