Good food and service excellent. Rooms a bit dated but functional. Would recommend and would use again. The food variety was good with local and international food available. Snack bar limited, but sufficient. A small pool, but again sufficient. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel cabaret was pretty good too. I only wish the hotel group shuttle bus ran out of season, sadly this was not explained to us before booking

man on reception was rude and didn't even smile or welcome us on arrival,we were told we were to late to get a coffee or water cus everything was closed till the morning, our room smelt of urine,no-way could you have bathed in their, the room is so basic, the patio was so small ,you had to bring the deck chairs in to open the shutters, the view we had was of some waste ground and the bins,(lovely)we asked to be moved and said we would have to wait till the morning,we got moved around 11.30am,the next room was smaller but cleaner,it is a very noisy place and it wasn't even the half term, the whole place needs an upgrade,no way is it a 3 star more like a two star,as for the free bus that takes you to the other h-top hotels, its not available till peak season.rip off.you have to book 24hrs before you want to eat at another hotel and you can only do it once.the food leaves alot to the imagination,i bite into what i thought was a chicken nugget and it was frozen inside,it was a paste.stay away

Just got back yesterday from the planamar having stayed for 1 week Al, I read all the reviews before we went and had a good idea of what to expect. We expected a dated hotel as nearly everyone has already said but also very clean this was true I like old fashioned anyway and some of the photos of the grounds with their various features ie..old pump of some sort and a old press and some pretty statues was lovely however the rooms have in my opinion gone way past the acceptable dated stage and for me just now in desperate need of upgrading beds are indeed very uncomfortable the plastic mattress covers were split in places and ended up catching you as you turned over in the night. The sheets slip of so that's what you end up laying on and then the blankets very thin and old with holes in to cover you, we were cold the whole week. The bathroom was bad too both our sink and my daughters next door has big cracks in the sinks and our bath was very stained with rust spots around the plug hole so I only showered all week. The chair at the little desk that you have in the room was metal framed and covered in rust I have to say while it may be a cheap holiday and you get what you pay for and all that I think there should still be certain standards. There was also clearly a problem with bugs in the rooms too looked like wood louse and earwigs. food was ok salads very nice mains were chicken which was lovely and others meats were liver, rabbit! We did not touch this) pork and we think stewing beef the staff need to get the labelling on the meat correct most nights my husband would play guess the meat as the label was nearly always incorrect. They did serve some strange combinations but I enjoyed trying them all. Desserts are nearly always the same cake sponge with a different icing on each day jelly, rice pudding, meringue pieces, something else not sure) mouse coffee and strawberry. Little pots of icecream. Plenty of fruit. We often skipped dessert and had a lovely icecream gelato from down the road. Pool area fine and cleaned every day. Outside area very pleasant lots of seating which is a good job as there is not nearly enough seating inside. Entertainment was fine the team were lovely. Bar staff amazing very friendly and funny. Cleaning staff work very hard and that is clear to see. One thing though WET FLOOR SiGNES! Myself and my daughter went into the bar area toilet after coming back from the shops and my daughter went absolutely flying onto her back! Her head just missed the step she has hurt her back a lot and is on strong pain killers and has not been able to return to work today she was in a lot of pain on the flight with the bumps too this happened the day before we came home. It's a shame as this could of so easily been avoided had there been a wet floor sign out, the floors are dark and mottled so you can't see if it's wet, I told the bar man but he was reluctant to enter the ladies which I understand and just asked if she was ok I was a little cross and said about the lack of sign but not sure if he understood me or just didn't know what to say. In hindsight I should of put a complaint in so people do be very careful. Was more angry when that night it poored down and the bar conservatory roof was leaking onto the dance floor and there the barman comes out with a mop and a wet floor sign.i couldn't believe it! The resort is very nice and was in my element with all the shops I did indeed shop til I dropped and the Thursday market behind the hotel was great. We went to Calella on the train for 4.80 euros return and did yes lots more shopping only takes about 8 mins amazing and such a smooth ride. Beach sand uncomfy on the feet but good for exfoliating lol some great looking restaurants. Santa Susanna merges with Malgrat and as you walk past all the shops and things you find yourself there without really noticing we did lots of walking without realising how far we had got. I emailed the hotel before going to ask if myself and my hubby could have our room next to my daughters and also if it would be possible to have first floor as I don't like being high up I never did get a response but did get what I had asked for I still don't know if this was just coincidence but we got the back of the hotel rooms 150 and 151 which looks out onto the back of the kitchens, staff car park/ entrance and a metal shelter thing that houses all the broken bits of furniture and so on not a pretty sight and the big fans are very noisey. But having got what I had asked for I could hardly push my luck and ask to be moved so left it at that. Rooms echo everything and I would recommend earplugs. We loved Malgrat but would only return to planamar if they in the future upgrade a little at least just the basics.
