Stayed here with my wife and two of my children on an all inclusive package. The hotel is advertised as a 4 Star.....not with any stretch of the imagination would it acheive that rating, it's a 2 Star at best. The hotel is in desperate need of a complete renovation, the food served is generally very poor and tasteless, the staff unfriendly and leave you feeling like your an inconvenience.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Arrived about 12 in the evening. Reception staff were rude and unwelcoming. We were charged €9.90 tax per room. Rooms were adequate and clean. Food was good but sometimes not a great choice. Drink system is annoying as you have a card which you exchange for a drink and you can only obtain further drinks by exchanging your glass. Some of the bar staff were extremely rude. Safe is expensive. ( €7 a day and €10 deposit). We could not even play table tennis without paying a 10 euro deposit for the bats. The hotel location is good in a quieter area of Lloret but only a 15 min walk to the main busier centre. Close to the beach which is fine pebbles rather than sand but very nice and clean. It is great for snorkelling by the rocks further down the beach.

Food not great but ok, the room was clean and spacious with air con, location very close to fenals beach, shops and bars and just a 10 minute walk from lloret de mar town. The only down side is the bar service very slow with too much larking about by 2 or 3 of the bar men when there is a big queue. You spend more time at the bar queing up than sitting at your seat. If they served pints instead of halves it would halve the queue and double your sit down time. Good for young families and mature people.

Please read this before making a booking at the so called 4* Royal Beach hotel. Firstly don't book here, secondly don't book here, if you do end up booking here you will end up wishing you hadn't booked here. Ok, here's the meat for the bones. The ' all inclusive ' package isn't quite like a normal all inclusive package. Everything shuts at midnight. If you want to carry on having fun, drinking soft drinks or alcoholic ones then tuff luck, the bar will close whether you are in the queue or not. The children's entertainment throughout the day is very poor and you wouldn't want to leave your child in there, we didn't once. The evening entertainment is slightly better. The kids have an hour disco every night with entertainers dancing with them, but it's the same CD they play every night. The family entertainment after the kids is generally pretty good, but nothing to want to come back for. The swimming pool is fairly large and very clean. There is a good sized shallow end that gradually goes into a very good sized deep end. It does get busy and you have to be down early to get a sun lounger. There is an impressive 7th floor area with Jacuzzis and lots of sun loungers, which gets the sun all day long, with a bar that is generally a lot quieter than the main bar downstairs. The all inclusive does allow you to have beers, wines, sangria. spirits, soft drinks, but they are all served in long thin glasses, probably about half a pint. You can go to the bar as many times as you like, the wait is usually no more than 5 minutes. The fun (cough) comes at meal times. The restaurant is open for a good amount of time for each meal, although breakfast could be open longer. The best way to describe meal times is a rugby scrum. The survival of the fittest. Every man, woman and child for themselves. With so many nationalities in the hotel, some believe in queuing, most don't. Some have manners, most don't. The food is of adequate standard. You aren't getting 4* food here. The food is plentiful, with a good selection. When i read that ice cream was available for most of the day, i thought that (naively) there might have been an ice cream machine or similar. No. You help yourself from a freezer in the restaurant and they are a small tub of ice cream. The snacks that are served all day outside of meal times are burgers and hotdog sausages that are cooked and left on the hotplate. If you time it wrong then you will get cold food, but other times it is edible. The rooms are poor. I have stayed in better 2* B&Bs in the UK. Very basic with air conditioning. No fridge, minibar or luxury here. 1970's style deco with an old 12 inch TV stuck to the wall. You can hear everything through the walls. Someone coughing a couple of floors above you to someone blowing their nose 3 floors down on the main road. I haven't had a good night's sleep since I have been here, neither has the family. The hotel is about 250 metres from the beach, which is quite nice. Plenty of room with ice cream vendors, toilets and places to eat and drink. The beach is shingle and not sand, but there are peddalos and banana boat type rides available. The walk to Lloret de Mar is about 15 minutes and there is plenty to do there. It is safe to say I would never recommend this hotel or area to anyone. There are many places within Europe to holiday for much better value and with more to entertain you than here.
