This was our third visit to the H TOP Amaika. We had 2 twin rooms on the 2nd floor (we went as a group of 4 adult males) on an all-inclusive basis. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food and drinks selection is very good. The AI system is better here than in the H TOP Olympic (there is no dual card system - your AI card is simply scanned for each drink). The only negative about the hotel is the size of the pool - it is far too small. However, we made use of the pools at the H TOP Olympic which is only a short walk away. The hotel is ideally located right next to the main tourist area of Calella which has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The beach is very close as well. H TOP AI customers get sunbeds for 3 euros per sunbed (normal rate is 4.50 euros). The beach blue bar is excellent and H TOP AI customers get good discounts here as well. There is free wi-fi at the blue bar - just ask them for the password and if you get sunbeds close to the bar you can still get signal on the beach. Calella itself is very nice. Plenty of shops and restaurants and the train to Barcelona is very cheap. Barcelona is well worth a visit. We would also recommend visiting the waterpark in Lloret which costs 30 euros per adult for entry. Overall, we had a great time here and will definately be booking this hotel for future visits to Calella.

We stayed at the Amika from the 18th of July for one week. We were a late check in due to the time of our flights and there was only one person working on the desk so check in took a good while! There were no snacks on offer or water for guests who were later in arriving...not great with small children. The room we stayed in was clean enough could have been cleaner though. We were meant to have a room for four the room had only been made up for three so one of the children had to sleep with us as there was no bedding for the chair bed. We asked the following morning for extra bedding...it took 3 days to get it! We also only had towels for 3 and asked numerous times for an extra towel...we received one the day before we left! The one thing I would point out is the foul smell of drains everyday numerous times per day in the bathroom actually it was that strong it filled the whole room. The air conditioning isn't very good does make a small difference but not much. The rooms facing the front of the hotel are very noisy at least until 3-4 in the morning. It's almost impossible to get a sun lounger or even a seat near the pool as people are lining up from after 8 am and lay towels on all of them then don't use them til late afternoon. The staff in the restaurant work very hard and are pleasant unlike the staff on the front desk one in particular her name was Merci she was the most abrupt sour faced unhelpful person you could come across definitely not the kind of person you would want representing your hotel, I understand the hotel is very busy but manners cost nothing! The card system for all inclusive is a nightmare if you want a drink for yourself and your children you have to go and take your drinks outside lay them down then go back and get more as the rude bar man informed me. I asked for the four juices and he said you can have two take them out to your table them come back and order another two! What's the point? I had four cards. If there's a few people waiting you have to join the end of the que again! The evening entertainment was average although the magic show was good apart from the magicians assistant who didn't like children and moaned and drew them dirty looks as she had boxes on stage during the kids disco and if the kids so much as backed onto them she went MAD! One of the children actually tried to speak to her and she totaly ignored them as you can see from the pic I've put up. Maybe a good idea to set up after the kids disco? All in all we probably wouldn't go back the lack of manners, the smell of drains and the noise.
Hotel mainly. fine but had to go to another htop hotel to get use of sunbeds as none available when needed and pool not big enough. Food fine plenty of choice. Beds comfortable bathrooms could do...

My friend and I booked an All Inclusive holiday here for a week. I read the trip advisor reviews with an open mind having read some very negative comments about the hotel. The flight from Bristol was quick and efficient and we were met at Girona Airport and directed to our coach. This was the only negative as the journey took 3 hours to our hotel with frequent stops to drop passengers off. However, when we finally arrived at the hotel the staff were welcoming and helpful. Our twin room was clean and spacious with a balcony overlooking the pool. The patio door catch was broken and the telephone didn't work but these were repaired with the minimum off fuss. The dining room was huge with attentive friendly waiters. The food was varied and plentiful for all tastes. I'm a strict vegetarian ( no meat or fish) and one evening when there was less choice for me the chef offered to make an omelette which was much appreciated. We thought the food offered was fantastic with plenty of hot, cold and an abundance of delicious fruit. There is a separate area in the dining room for getting drinks by showing your card which is issued on the day of arrival and can be used on check out day too. The dining room is busy but we never had to wait for a table. The waiting staff work really hard making sure plates etc are cleared and tables are left clean. With the All Inclusive card you can eat three main meals and have snacks in between ....amazing considering the price of the holiday. The pool is very small for the size of the hotel with only a couple of umbrellas available and people were queuing before 9am when the pool area opened. We spent our days at the beach. Cost for two at the Blue Bar cafe was 9 euros for two beds and a parasol.... 9 to 6.... a ticket was issued for the day so you could wander back for lunch at the hotel or shopping. This is a special discount between the hotel and cafe as the other beach bar cost 13 euros. Drinks were also discounted at the blue bar too. The train station is a 10/15 minute walk and whist there we visited Sant Pol one stop from Calella ...cost approx 4 euros. Worth a wander around the town. We also went to Barcelona for the day. Cost approx 10 euros. Journey takes about an hour. Easy Peasy journey along the pretty coastal route. Loved the day there. Had pre booked the hop on hop off bus and tickets for Gaudi's Segrada Familia which bypasses the long queues. Worth the visit...also wandered down the Ramblas. We decided not to take the coach back to the airport on our last day as the pick up was too early. The cost of taxis were given at the hotel which seemed high....so we arranged a taxi outside the hotel for 55 Euros. The journey took 40 minutes! All in all a perfect holiday with great weather. Plenty to do with shops close by. Loved it all. My tip is don't listen to the moaning Minnie's on here you won't regret it...have fun.
