We had a good 11 day break at the Amaika. We chose this area so we could have a bet on Cheltenham Races in a local bar and our visit to The Nou Camp. The hotel mainly caters for the middle aged and tends to have quite a few Spanish stopping there. The food is plentiful and there is a good choice of meat and fish dishes. The Restaurant staff work really hard, especially Jusef, the chef and Ignus, the smiling waiter. The bar staff all seem to enjoy there work and it is well run by the bar manager. The rooms are comfortable and are cleaned to a high standard by staff who enjoy their work. Negatives? Probably the snacks between meals. Warmed up Burgers, Hot Dogs and cold ham and cheese sandwiches with a few cakes. Little variation. The room was very warm and the air conditioning would only send out warm air. I reported it to reception and she said 'It's because it's March'. I slept with the balcony door open. Other small moans were no chance of booking a late room and nowhere to shower once out of your room at 10.00am and the wi-fi wasn't very consistent in the room at 20 euro's a week. On the whole, the positives outweigh the negatives. Excellent bar around the corner called Alcatraz if you enjoy sport. Have all the football, rugby, racing on their many screens.

We have been travelling across Europe by car and stayed here. Through our trip we stayed at great places. Ths was NOT one of them. First off as we arrive the girl at the desk was short and un occomdating. They have car parking..it costs which is fine but its a dirt lot that is mud when it rains. (It rained the day we left) our luggage got muddy. As we tried to leave and give the garage door opener back for a return on my deposit the lady was VERY rude and even though I had the remote wanted my recipt which I was not told to keep. Her additude was bad. "We'll usually if someone makes a deposit they keep the reciept!" Geeze. With an additude. I won't be coming back. It has paper thin walls and is no 4 star as it claims. Go elsewhere. ....oh and they charge for wifi. Only hotel that did the 2 weeks we traveled across Europe.

If you can see past the Titanic themed decor of the hotel, this is a well run hotel. All of the staff from the front desk, cleaners, restaurant staff and barman are all friendly and will make your stay at the Amaika very enjoyable. We arrived in the afternoon and was checked in very smoothly and efficiently. The room was very clean and comfortable. The room was cleaned daily and if you wanted clean towels every day then they were provided. There is a mini bar in the room but you have to pay extra for it to be stocked. There is also a safe in the room which is extra as well (28 Euros per week with a 10Euro deposit for the key). The TV in the room caters for all nationalities. In the bathroom the hotel provides essential toiletries and also has a separate shower cubicle as well as a a shower over the bath. The one downside to the shower cubicle is that it is very small and to get in and close the door sometimes you knock the shower off due to where it is located on the wall. There is also a hairdryer in the bathroom but it is not very powerful. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and no iron/trouser press. The restaurant is very clean and the food was always varied. If the food was not very warm then there are microwaves to heat the food up. The bar was also good with table service if you were not all inclusive. If you are all inclusive then you have to go to the bar and you are only allowed 2 drinks per visit, The evening entertainment was OK if you like Spanish discos. Some nights there was singers and cabaret acts but this time of the year the Spanish hotels cater for Spanish pensioners so the evening entertainment is geared up to cater for them. If you are looking for a clean and presentable hotel in a quiet Spanish resort then the Amaika is the hotel for you.
As you would expect from this part of the word, Calella basks in a coastal Mediterranean climate, ensuring year-round mild temperatures. Autumn and spring enjoy cooler weather, or come in July and August for summer at its hottest. The weather is perfect for Calella holidays no matter what time of year you visit. East is ideal for golf, summer is excellent for sun tanning while Autumn is an ideal time for an offpeak holiday in Calella. Just don’t forget to slap on that high-factor sunscreen!
