To start with I was very worried about this hotel having read a lot of the reviews in fact we almost changed it but I am glad we didn't. We had a lovely family holiday here me my husband and our 11 year old son. Yes it does need a refurb and the rooms are basic but they are made up every day and we had clean towels each day (who spends all holiday in there room anyway). The rooms are of a good size and we had a balcony with view of the smaller pool and sea. We stayed on an all inclusive basis and like all inclusive it can get a bit boring however there was always plenty of good food on to choose from. Breakfast was bacon sausage eggs beans meat toast cereal fruit biscuits etc. Lunch was in the pool bar which was meat burgers chips salad soup etc yes at busy times it is a bit of a pain queuing but just go first thing or a bit later on your on holiday there's no rush. Evening meal was always good for us and I am a fussy eater but always left full. The staff always were pleasant with us and came pretty much straight away to take our drinks order each night. There was two outdoor pools (which are both really cold!!!) Didn't stop my son and husband having fun but I was the one taking the photos but too cool for my liking. The indoor pool was heated and nice but too shallow really to swim in but nice to have a relax in. There was an indoor shop which sold all your essentials and not bad priced really for a hotel shop. The hotel is on a cliff with a walk down some steps to the sea (again the water freezing) but the beach itself is lovely and clean and we had a few afternoons there. There are a lot of steps around this hotel so not suitable for people with walking proplems and I can imagine having a pram to be a nightmare. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to the old town which we really enjoyed my son loved the street entertainer at night and there were lots of shops pubs restaurants there to keep you busy. It was a half an hour walk back to the hotel along the beach if you didn't want to wait for the hotel bus. It is also situated ten minute walk from the strip which again is full of pubs bars restaurants etc but I think this area especially at night is more aimed towards the young ones ready to drink till they drop lol!! It is a nice walk but more towards late afternoon than late at night. There is a gorgeous milkshake shop half way up on the left I had a strawberry mallow and after eight milkshake these were so nice!!!! The weather at night does go a bit cooler even in august which surprised me if we went again I would take a cardigan as I did feel it. However the weather in the day was lovely....couple of cloudy days but we just went the shops when his happened. We had one night out of eleven where we were woken by someone drunk by the pool shouting abusive language but this didn't spoil the holiday it was a one off. We went with jet 2 and the only thing that let us down was on the way home we checked the reception for our collection time only for our transport not too turn up... We were about to get a taxi when we were informed by a couple in reception another jet 2 bus was coming for a different flight so we got on that which had our names on but we were not informed by jet 2 of the change in transport...obviously this is not hotels fault but not good customer communication by jet 2 really would have been courteous just to send me text or email to confirm the change of transport. To sum everything up this was a lovely 3 star Family Holiday and if you want 4 or 5 star then you need to pay more and go elsewhere but I would definitely return to the auramar as we had a lovely time.

This is a true review please read firstly we spent a fortnight there with my wife daughter son in law and our 12 month old grand daughter, the bedrooms are basic cleaned daily but our balcony was only cleaned once in a fortnight, food is ok plent to choose from, drinks beers and wine is ok but the shorts are like a chemical stay clear of bring your own the start a 11am and finish at 11pm there are two flights of stairs to the only bar at night and stairs every where the beech is a good walk down hill, the intertainment is a joke only one show a week on a Friday, the Brizilian guy who runs it gets a little to close to the young children for my liking, the stalff are all so stuck up there don't talk to you this is a 2 star hotel from the 60s

My husband, 6 years old boy and I visited this hotel from the 9th to the 16th August 2015. Hotel itself is a very basic 3 star. If you are wanting more please do not go to this hotel. Hotel facilities itself were average however the rooms and cleanliness was awful . We got a slight bout of ants in our room for around 2 days which really was not nice! No wireless available apart form the hotel reception area. Please do not go here if you are used to visiting 4 star/5 star luxury hotels. We made the most of it and tried to avoided lounging at the resort too much and visited the beach for majority of the day and venture out to the new strip to eat and have drinks and came back to room late evening so we didn’t have to stay in the room for too long. The beds were very uncomfortable but above all the cleanliness was terrible. Hotel is very outdated and rooms are even worse! Beach is very nearby and a bit of a hilly walk up and down but what an amazing beach it was, We spent most of our days on the beach since the view was so much nice than being in the resort itself. There is an option to hire a pair of sun loungers and shade for 10€ and you get two free drinks at the beach café. They do get taken up quite quickly or a lot of people did buy their own parasols you can get from any mini market. We did prefer the sun loungers as they were very nice. Food - We went under all-inclusive and we made a huge mistake and think we overpaid too. The all-inclusive option is horrendous , drinks are awful and the food is disgusting. We ended up eating out all nights for dinner and wasn’t that expensive. Around 40€ for my husband, I and my 6 year old son including meals and drinks and food choice was amazing. The new town is literally a quick ten min walk and you will find an abundance of mimi markets, supermarkets and bars, clubs, restaurants . There is one buffet restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner daily – Not enough staff on hand to provide you alcoholic drink at dinner time, they had to serve you and you can’t go and get a drink yourself. Breakfast was not good, not a lot of options at all however dinner was not really up to scratch. Buffet lunch is served in the pool bar snack area and OMG this food is awful and very repetive and again long queues to queue up to get food and drinks! Snacks during the day served exactly where you have lunch were literally non-existent. Just salted crisps, bread/butter/cheese/cold meats and leftover food from buffet lunch like meat burgers. Resort has plenty of STEPs to go up and down to get to the main pool areas, pool bar area for lunch and restaurant and rooms! The lifts are horrendous and don’t even look like lifts or even safe to go in. Luckily we were on the 1st floor so we didn’t suffer too much. Staff behind reception and pool bar snack area – so rude, ignorant and arrogant. They really did not want to be there and did not want to help serve anyone. Decent staff at the restaurant buffet lunch times. Evening entertainment – really good. The staff who work in this section work so hard and make everyone very welcome and part of nights they perform. We had 2 nights we particularly enjoyed which was the reptile show and the parrot show..really great for children and you get to take pictures and pay for the phots if you wish too. All in all I will not be returning back to this hotel ever again. BUT the beach was so lovely . There are some lovely 4 star apartment/villas literally around the corner form this hotel called Arieas Villas and they look amazing.

Just returned from a weeks stay on a B&B basis only. Room number B206. Our first "proper" holiday for 8 or so years and our first with our (nearly) 5 year old daughter. Prior to our daughter being born when we did holiday we never went less than 4 star. so after the wife informed me she had booked a holiday at this 3 star hotel I was horrified as to what to expect.......I don't like slumming it! She had apparently stayed here a couple of years ago when she went away for a girly long weekend break with some friends and concluded that although it's not the Ritz (and doesn't pretend to be) it would be perfect for us as a family. I must say after our weeks stay, I agree with her. Our daughter had a wonderful time, with the choice of three pools, a kids club, entertainment and copious amounts of food at breakfast to set her up for the day she came back from her first holiday very pleased indeed. The hotel room was quite dated and tired (as others have mentioned on here) but was functional and importantly- clean. Everything that should work, did and although the bathroom wasn't the most inviting, there was a constant supply of hot water at all times of the day whenever we wanted to shower. The room was made-up daily- beds re-made, rubbish bins cleared, bathroom cleaned and fresh towels. Regarding the decor and facilities of the room, then If it were a 4 star hotel then I would complain, but I always remembered it's a 3 and accepted it. If there was anything I would have a little moan about would be the fact the wall mounted tv (very old style 12" screen portable type) was so small you struggled to see the screen when laying on the bed as it was just too small- not that it mattered really as there were only two English speaking channels- CNN & BBC Worldwide, both news channels, so we really didn't bother watching it at all. If you're German (or can understand it) then you are well catered for- 6 or 7 German speaking channels. The only other observations are that the front door was made up of a slatted wood style design and one of the slats had shrunk and distorted with age resulting in a large gap, allowing someone looking in to get full view of what was going on in our room- I stuffed the gap with rolled up loo paper and it remained there during our stay. Finally, regarding the room, the corridors are ceramic tiled so anyone with a wheeled suitcase produces a hell of an amount of noise at all hours of the day and night- seems especially at night- and the front door does little or nothing to insulate you from it. Consequently to can get woken up at all sorts of hours.. As mentioned- there are three pools....all very cold despite it being very hot weather when we were there. But all clean and well maintained- as are the grounds. The trees, shrubs and lawns were immaculate. Also previously mentioned, we were only B&B, as were prefer a light snack at lunch and then go to different restaurants outside the hotel in the evening, so I can only comment about the food provided at breakfast. This we found to be excellent, with plenty of choice. It is basically an all you can eat self-serve buffet. The cooked breakfast offering was a little limited, and sameish over the week- and it must be a continental thing, but hot dog sausages instead of "proper" breakfast sausages is a little bit strange. Certainly no complaints though. We don't normally go to hotels that provided daytime and evening entertainment, so was surprised to find this one did ant no extra charge. A full 6 day a week complete day of entertainment for children and adults alike. Most of the adult entertainment- especially in the evening can probably be described as "cheesy" and a bit naff and the function room- although functional- is large and bland with a small bar area. We didn't expect entertainment, so anything was a bonus and our daughter enjoyed it, which is all that mattered. There were quite a few older couples watching, what we considered to be entertainment no really aimed at them, and we came to the conclusion they were the type that because they had paid all inclusive they would watch all and everything, simply because they had "paid for it" and then moan about it in a review on here. As others have mentioned, the staff seem to have had a sense of humour by-pass with little or no personality, but our questions and any issues we did have were dealt with to our satisfaction. There is a free courtesy bus provided, which takes you to the old town of Albufeira (recommended- especially for the Covent garden style evening entertainment in the square) but annoyingly in the evening departs at 6.30pm or 11.00pm. Nothing inbetween, which to my mind is ridiculous. The shop in the lobby is well stocked and open to 9.30pm. However bizzarely doesn't sell newspapers and doesn't accept credit or debit cards. If you want to use a card, then the assistant keys it in the till, hands you the receipt, retains the goods whilst you are instructed to go to the main reception where they will process the transaction and give you another receipt to show the assistant you have paid for the items. It's inconvenient and time consuming- especially if you happen to arrive at reception whilst someone is checking in or checking out and you have to queue. Around the pools there are plenty of sun loungers and parasols provided- we never struggled to find one. Plus in the more secluded, shady areas for those who aren't full blown sun lovers (like me) then they also provide funky bean bags to lounge on- very comfortable indeed! It's clean, it's functional, it gave us a good family holiday at a good price and it's 3 star......if you remember that, then you won't have many gripes. Enjoy!
