You could be forgiven for thinking that this is a private beach as the access to this small bay is virtually through the grounds of an apartment complex. Walking is recommended as parking is very limited. This compact bay is away from the crowds and is very popular with divers and snorkelers. There are a handful of sun loungers and parasols for hire and a beachside bar serving drinks, snacks and dishes such as grilled sardines and salad. The soft golden sands are surrounded by a rocky landscape and the gently shelving waters tempt you in for a dip.   Read more about this beachMinimise

Praia da Oura is a superb beach that is located in the centre of the main touristic centre of Albufeira New Town, which is otherwise known as Areias de S‹o Jo‹o. Despite its location in the centre of this developed zone, this golden sandy beach is extremely pleasant. The same character rocks of the area cascade down to the sea on both sides of the beach and the cliffs provide really interesting cliff walks to nearby beaches. There is certainly lots to do for all the family here, the waves are gentle enough for the children to jump in the surf and there are numerous water sports for all the adrenalin junkies. Various restaurants and bars line the small palm-lined promenade overlooking the ocean. Overall this beach, can be very busy but well serves the thousands of visitors each day in the height of the summer.   Read more about this beachMinimise

Located between Praia D'Oura and the Old Town, this beach is a long stretch of white sands that is particularly good for long walks, but be careful as the tide can quickly catch you out! This beach runs for around 4 kms and stretches out in front of the Monica Isabel Beach Club. The waves can be feisty in this area too and caution should be taken, but all the same the beach is very popular with families who enjoy being by the sea. There are various sections along the stretch that have sun loungers, toilets and a cafe or snack bar.   Read more about this beachMinimise
