This hotel has just completed an extensive refurbishment programme and is located in the Northern part of the island, on the Qawra peninsula, at the St. Pauls Bay seaside resort, two minutes walk from a 2.5 km stretch of promenade. Qawra hosts a number of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, a cinema and a casino as well as a vast array of water sport facilities. This popular resort offers easy access to the rest of the island, with a bus terminus situated just 5 minutes walk from the Hotel offering direct bus rides to all parts of the island. Qawra is also minutes away from the rural areas of Wardija and Mellieha, offering an opportunity for interesting country and scenic walks.

Rooms are decorated in warm mediterranean colours and designed to offer the utmost in comfort. Suites are uniquely defined by their luxurious and innovative design, combining traditional Maltese architecture with modern designs. Food & Drink
The elegant and informal main restaurant is buffet style and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is totally non-smoking (smokers lounge just outside). A dress code is enforced during dinner times. The completely refurnished Trattoria La Mentha, open in the evening, is an alternative dining facility to all hotel guests. Traditional Italian food is served in this restaurant, emphasising the quality yet simplistic style of Mediterranean cuisine. A variety of antipastos, salads, pasta, deep pan and thin crust pizzas, and the Chefs daily specialities are on offer. L Castagna offers a new menu including grills and light snacks, open on a 24 hour basis, has Internet facilities, alongside some other pastime electronic devices. It offers a variety of hot and cold beverages, snacks, ice-cream and scrumptious pastries - most of which are freshly baked in the outlet itself. Canoa Pub features a maritime theme, with an antique 13 metre long rowing boat adorning the ceiling. The pub offers a wide range of local and foreign beer, mostly on draught, a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, a variety of free bar snacks and a choice of pub food. The pub hosts regular live entertainment and is equipped with a big screen, featuring a number of popular events. Lycra Pool Bar offers drinks (open during summer), barbecue lunches, freshly grilled meats, fresh fish and freshly prepared salads during the day.
Sports & Entertainment
The hotel offers a game room, with an additional one opening during the summer months. A billiards and air-hockey table, together with a choice of electronic games are available. There is a roof top pool (6th floor) with an integrated childrens pool. The outdoor pool and childrens pool are closed in Winter, The indoor pool is closed in August.Hotel Santana offers free Wi-Fi services in all rooms and public areas. Moreover, a courtesy PC with access to the internet has also been set up in the hotel lobby and is available, free of charge. Outdoor activities include diving in the warm waters of Malta, experiencing the amazing underwater world, walking and enjoying some of the most stunning scenes anywhere in the Mediterranean, cycling in the most exciting landscapes of Malta Island.

The Egyptian themed indigo wellness club with its freshwater heated indoor pool, Jacuzzi, hydrotherapy bath, sauna (local charge), fitness room, massage room (local charge) and a health and beauty treatment salon offering over 80 health and beauty therapy treatments (local charges), gives you all the time and space to spoil and pamper yourself. The health and beauty therapy salon offers a wide range of treatments and personalised packages ranging from slimming treatments, algae baths, mud wraps and facials to simple make up.

The area is not boom boom like ppl day but there's plenty kareoke bars and lovely sea front which goes for miles. Very busy resort. Everything is on your doorstep. Maltese ppl are very friendly and car hire company across the street. Great for parking also as a lot of cars on the narrow roads. Roof pool can get very busy if wanting a pool view so be up early before 10am at least otherwise the other loungers not as impressive. One night there was a pool party but sadly police got involved as too loud. Would be nice to have music throughout the day on roof but lower sound. Loungers do need looking at as they keep popping out of slots. Bar was reasonable. Breakfast was lovely plenty choice. Loved the porridge. A great indoor pool also for a 5pm swim. Overall this hotel and malta is beautiful. I always had Cyprus as my number one destination but now malta has exceeded that

Stayed at this hotel on a half board basis with my Dad for 10 nights in rooms 411 & 405 June 5th till 15th Check in was very friendly – I had mailed the hotel to ask for 2 rooms at the front of the hotel. They replied saying they would do their best. Well a big thanks to whoever organised the rooms as we got our request! As returning guests we were given a nice bowl of fruit and wine in our rooms which was a very nice gesture. There was also a bottle of water and as we found out next day slices of meats and bread in the fridge as we were on a late flight (maybe a note to let people know about the food) which was also a nice appreciated gesture. The people on reception were always very friendly and my experience was that nothing was too much trouble for them so a big fat 10 out of 10. The rooms – as stated our rooms were at the front of the hotel – we both found them very comfortable and of a reasonable size with lovely modern bathrooms. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels if required. I will say though that the rooms needed a vacuum nearer the end of our holiday! The only bug bear in the room was a lack of a handle to open the fridge. The outer door had come away from the fridge door. Guess I could have reported it but I was too chilled out to care. The hallways are all carpeted so this keeps noise down in the hotel. The public areas round reception are comfy with sofas and nice chairs and the toilets are spotless. I enjoyed using the facilities on the roof the lovely views the pool and chilling with a beer, although in my opinion some things need improving! Some of the tables were dirty with dust and grime. These should be cleaned daily. If they had been cleaned then maybe they need wiping down more during the day? Had a snack from the pool bar on our first day and we were not impressed. Cheap nasty burger, forgot the cheese, hard undercooked chips and a cold foul tasting hotdog! Again we could have complained but left it and made sure we used the local eateries for lunch. Some of the sun loungers have seen better days and the hotel needs to invest in some new ones. I even witnessed to actually break whilst people were on them. I understand the sun and elements can erode plastic over time but a check should be made of the loungers. Last one no ash trays on the roof area! Yes I smoke and as a considerate person I would get a cup of water from the bar to use as an ash tray. Not everyone did this so there were dimps on the floor from time to time. Please invest the small amount of money into ashtrays for the roof; preferably the type that are covered so the ash doesn’t blow all over the place. Food – found the restaurant to be light and airy and well laid out. First observation from my Dad and lots of other guests is about the temperature at the back of the restaurant i.e. the air con is bloody freezing! Is there any way of regulating this? Food is a very contentious subject and I can guarantee that 6 people eating the same meal would have a different opinion on that meal. I enjoyed the food for the most part with a few days where I didn’t fancy anything. Some meals were in my opinion fantastic and some just ok but that’s my opinion! I thought the choice at dinner was very good for the size of the hotel. Breakfast was good but again some attention to detail missing like bread running out and not being available for 8 minutes! This only happened once but should not happen at all. Please note these are comments and not complaints Service was good on the whole although let down a few times by waiting ages to order drinks as the servers hadn’t seen us. Location – in my opinion couldn’t be better! 5 mins to the sea bus station etc. There are lots of shops near to the hotel and lots of restaurants cafe bars and coffee shops too. I would class this hotel as a friendly hotel with very nice staff and a lot of nice guests too. I have noticed quite a lot of people on Trip advisor commenting that there are lots of older people in the hotel. Yes and you find lots of older people coming back year after year. Malta is a safe country to visit and if you’re a British national you will get the same NHS treatment as you would expect back home so people of senior years feel safe and comfortable and why not! If you are after boom boom then do some research first and stay in Pacevile or St Julian’s. The area of Qawra is low key which suites the majority of people but I wouldn’t class it as a party place. There are Karaoke bars and a few discos but it’s not boom boom! Would I stay in this hotel again? My Dads booked for 3 weeks in November and I am taking my wife for a cheeky week in October and am really looking forward to it. Thanks to all the staff for a fab holiday. Gary & Bernard Roe

We have stayed 3 nights for the 1st time in this hotel on HB. We booked a superior room which was on the front of the hotel, with a nice balcony, the room was large, clean and fully equipped. Food was freshly made and good. Reception staff very helpful, restaurant staff would do with some extra training but very kind. Roof top pool enjoys a beautiful view of the sea and surroundings. Spa area has a good sized jacuzzi and pool, also a gym room. Overall a nice stay and will return soon.
Qawra weather is hot in the summer and still very mild in the winter months which is why it has a year-round popularity both with watersports enthusiasts and families and couples 12 months of the year. If you want to go on a family holiday to Qawra then the summer months are the best time, while for couples looking to get away from the stress of life should consider taking their Qawra holidays later in the season.
