This hotel has just completed an extensive refurbishment programme and is located in the Northern part of the island, on the Qawra peninsula, at the St. Pauls Bay seaside resort, two minutes walk from a 2.5 km stretch of promenade. Qawra hosts a number of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, a cinema and a casino as well as a vast array of water sport facilities. This popular resort offers easy access to the rest of the island, with a bus terminus situated just 5 minutes walk from the Hotel offering direct bus rides to all parts of the island. Qawra is also minutes away from the rural areas of Wardija and Mellieha, offering an opportunity for interesting country and scenic walks.

Rooms are decorated in warm mediterranean colours and designed to offer the utmost in comfort. Suites are uniquely defined by their luxurious and innovative design, combining traditional Maltese architecture with modern designs. Food & Drink
The elegant and informal main restaurant is buffet style and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is totally non-smoking (smokers lounge just outside). A dress code is enforced during dinner times. The completely refurnished Trattoria La Mentha, open in the evening, is an alternative dining facility to all hotel guests. Traditional Italian food is served in this restaurant, emphasising the quality yet simplistic style of Mediterranean cuisine. A variety of antipastos, salads, pasta, deep pan and thin crust pizzas, and the Chefs daily specialities are on offer. L Castagna offers a new menu including grills and light snacks, open on a 24 hour basis, has Internet facilities, alongside some other pastime electronic devices. It offers a variety of hot and cold beverages, snacks, ice-cream and scrumptious pastries - most of which are freshly baked in the outlet itself. Canoa Pub features a maritime theme, with an antique 13 metre long rowing boat adorning the ceiling. The pub offers a wide range of local and foreign beer, mostly on draught, a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, a variety of free bar snacks and a choice of pub food. The pub hosts regular live entertainment and is equipped with a big screen, featuring a number of popular events. Lycra Pool Bar offers drinks (open during summer), barbecue lunches, freshly grilled meats, fresh fish and freshly prepared salads during the day.
Sports & Entertainment
The hotel offers a game room, with an additional one opening during the summer months. A billiards and air-hockey table, together with a choice of electronic games are available. There is a roof top pool (6th floor) with an integrated childrens pool. The outdoor pool and childrens pool are closed in Winter, The indoor pool is closed in August.Hotel Santana offers free Wi-Fi services in all rooms and public areas. Moreover, a courtesy PC with access to the internet has also been set up in the hotel lobby and is available, free of charge. We had two lovely relaxing weeks at the Santana hotel our first room air conditioning not working but within 15 mins was moved to a room with great air con rooftop pool was good but busy and people putting towels on the sunbeds and away on trips half the day I'm lead to believe this is being looked at by managment . staff very friendly and help full the hotel is close to all amenities were already looking for next years holiday

Having booked a four star hotel for our first holiday to Malta, my husband and I were shocked to discover what we had booked into. The rooms are fairly dated and old fashioned - having said that, as long as the room is clean I can overlook the décor, and it was certainly cleaned nicely every day by the maid. My problem with the place is all the other things it lacks that we thought we were paying for - the gym and sauna in particular that clearly are not there !! We did have a very friendly welcome on arrival but, apart from that, there is little I can write that is positive. We paid for half board as we thought it would be nice to dine in a four star hotel`s restaurant for part of our holiday, and eat in local restaurants the rest of the time. However, on our first evening there we were amazed at the lack of variety food and at it`s lack of presentation. Putting it down to a bad selection that evening and not being put off, we went down for breakfast the following morning and came across another poor selection. What was on offer was a buffet style selection of very overcooked and greasy traditional English cooked breakfast foods and little else. I don`t normally eat an English cooked breakfast on holidays abroad and, instead,opt for the continental breakfast and cereals and I am normally quite satisfied with the usual selections. However the selection here was virtually non existent except for some slimy, sloppy ham (the likes of which I wouldn`t touch in England ), some slices of salami and some processed cheese- again, cheap stuff I wouldn`t use back home. Because there was not much to choose from I decided to opt for cereals instead, however the selection of these was very poor too, and of very cheap and nasty quality. Not to be deterred and put off, we went back over the next few mornings and had breakfast- we had, after all paid for it but, it was always of bad quality and little selection and we finally couldn`t eat it any more so gave up and ate out. We had given up trying to have an evening meal too, as it was simply not up to standard. We`d looked forward to our holiday and were very disappointed by the hotel we had come to as everything sounded lovely in it`s description. We are used to dining out in nice restaurants and staying in nice hotels, but this was clearly not a 4 star hotel, despite what the brochures say - it only had one plug socket in our room and very uncomfortable mattresses on the bed. Despite the problems encountered, we were not prepared to let it ruin our holiday and so we just got on with it- using the room as a base instead and doing our own thing out of the hotel. It`s a shame as Malta is a beautiful place with warm and welcoming people and, although we would love to go back, we will not be returning to this hotel. My husband and I have been in the hospitality trade ourselves for many years running our own establishments, and we understand how difficult the trade is .For this reason, we rarely leave bad reviews - however ,for me, the icing on the cake was when we checked out and we were hardly given a backward glance, let alone being asked if we had enjoyed our stay. In a competitive industry, with many good hotels and restaurants around, there is no excuse for what Hotel Santana lacked, as well as it`s misleading description. I`m sure there were many families staying there that were happy with what was on offer, and who will return - we wont be one of them, though.

We have been visiting Malta for 12 years and this is the first time in the Santana....We have now booked up for June 23rd and Aug 18th next year as this is a first class establishment...........The staff are the best we have had in any establishment we have stayed in,they cannot be more friendly or do enough for you.......We have booked a suite for next year as we were lucky enough to be upgraded to one this year and feel it is worth the extra payment as the rooms are large clean and very comfortable and have a private sun deck.the hotel is centrally located for all St Pauls Bay Amenities being right next to the man bus terminus also helps...more than enough bars,cafes and shops surround the immediate area and it is a short stroll to the promenade and Bugibba Square....Thank you for an enjoyable stay and we look forward to returning in June and August next year

My family and I stayed here from the 14th to 28th July 2015. The welcome we received from the reception was great. James in particular is a asset to your hotel. The breakfast was plentiful and you could pick and choose what you wanted to eat. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned daily with clean towels everyday. The maids were really friendly. The pool area was clean the pool bar was good. The pool itself wasn't to deep for children and was enjoyable. The lack of shade at the pool can be a hassle because it is limited. We had a great time at the Santana and we are returning on the 6th of October for another week with more of the family. Hope to have the same experience
