Visited for 2 weeks in August with my family of 5, this place is not 5 star....... The major problem is the facilities cannot cope with the number of guests. Which made everything you did stressful ! Not relaxing at all. If you want a sunbed by the pool you have to get up at 7am & by this time all beds on the beach are gone. I don't actually have a problem with beds being reserved it's the fact that there is not enough beds and they can't physically fit anymore in the resort. Queues for everything... Breakfast, lunch & dinner no matter what time you went if you wanted a table outside (who wants to sit in a hot sweaty room to eat!) . We were even told our party of 5 was large hence why we had to wait (5 is not large) & getting a plate of food back to your table was like being on a obstacle course, too many tables & too many people to dodge... It was stressful. The food was good and varied but the wine was disgusting. The taverna was lovely, same food but more open air by the beach & less busy but to get a table booked you had to queue by 8am the day before. We tried our best to book here as often as possible. The only other real alternative for lunch was the 'snack bar' not really a snack bar it was an ice cream cart with 1 lady making toasties all day, so there was always a queue. The lady who made the traditional pancakes worked hard all day everyday and these were lovely but not really an alternative to lunch. We only visited the main buffet 3 times in 2 weeks for lunch it was just too busy. We were charged 40 euros for our safe (not a deposit) and I thought we were on an all inclusive resort? You can't get a cup of tea or coffee before 10am without going into the restaurant for breakfast. My husband did ask once if he could take a cup of coffee from the restaurant to the terrace and the waitress was so rude with her actions she just about threw the cup at him. With regards to the evening bar area again overcrowded, not enough tables & chairs so you were constantly hovering around each evening waiting for someone to leave. Don't even bother trying to get a table to watch the Greek night entertainment unless your prepared to get your table at 6pm (and miss dinner) yet the outdoor theatre was closed that night so why the Greek night wasn't in the theatre I don't know which would have left space in the bar area for others? Cocktails are pre mixed sugar filled syrups and there is no kind of 'fizz' on offer. With the wine being so foul I struggled to find a drink I liked. With regards to our room it was clean. The mini bar is only stocked up every other day. There was 3 of us in our room but only balcony furniture for 2 so we couldn't sit out together in the evening. And our air-con was poor. The lowest it reached after being on all night was 25 degrees. We left out some euros in change from our pockets one night on the side in our room and they disappeared at some point the next day (this was only day 2 so a bit presumptuous of the cleaner to think it was a tip!) We requested 2 rooms together as my teenage kids had a separate room but once checked in we realised there was another room in between us with other guests which made it awkward in the evenings to again sit on our balconies chatting together. The free wifi only works if you sit by reception in the lobby, there is no air-con in the lobby. I've been to many resorts before that had 'resident' stray cats which did not bother me but never stray dogs! I saw at least 10 different dogs on different days and a few were bigger then Alsatians. They followed you from the snack bar and often hung about while the kids were eating. And the staff do nothing they just ignore them, no attempt was made to shoo them on or remove them. It's only a matter of time before one of these dogs tries to grab some food and bites a child! This I found totally disgusting and forget about all my other gripes I would never return to this hotel for this one reason only! It's a shame that because we have kids at school we have to pay more to visit a resort that cannot cope at full capacity I'm sure it's much more relaxed and calm place during school term time with less guests. The beach is lovely and George (pool bar) and Christoff (main bar) did there best to make our holiday enjoyable. The staff in the taverna also deserve a mention. We did have a good holiday as we made the most of what we had and met a lovely family. We left the resort for dinner on 3 occasions and thoroughly enjoyed our 'escape' from the madness at the hotel. But the hotel did not contribute to our 'good' holiday at all. This is the first time I have ever posted on trip advisor so I am not a serial complainer, and if the hotel wishes to comment below please don't say ' guests reserve 2 lots of beds and restaurant has peak times' I'm not interested. I want to know what you going to do about the dogs!

The resort is nice but outdated. It is next to the beach and the pools are quite nice. The food is acceptable (but not great) and the staff is very kind. However, it is far from a 5-star hotel: the rooms are outdated, the tv is ancient and the one in our room didn't work (we reported the incident but the technician wasn't able to fix it. The wi-fi is only free in the lobby, with a poor reception and speed. If you want to access the wi-fi in the rest of the resort, you have to pay 34 euros per week. Other hidden charge, the safe deposit boxes, cost 25 euros per week. I was disappointed by the menus; I felt I didn't get to taste real greek cuisine (ex. Pizza served in their "greek taverna"). Finally, although this hotel has a good location because it is right next to the beach, there is nothing else around; you'll need to get a car if you want to visit Crete.

We were hoping for a peaceful, relaxing holiday in the sun! We defiantly had sun.. But that was about it. We do not believe this is a 5* resort. It is focused at mainly children and Russians. If you want a holiday by the pool, reading a book or sunbathing and sleeping this isn't it. Every day, more than once the reps blast out ridiculously loud music, unnecessarily loud - It seems that the reps can do what they want, when they want, I think they would all be more suited to an 18-30s hotel. Oh, and I'm 25! The beach is by far the best part of the hotel, although trying to get a sunbed is a war, once again with the Russians. Food - Very samey. Staff - Some, really nice, others quite rude and obnoxious. Once, myself and my partner had a run in with some Russians, apparently we stole a seat, which wasn't being sat in and I ended up with an arm around my throat, these chaps were a lot bigger than us, so we left straight away and went to reception. NOTHING WAS DONE! It is almost as if the staff are scared of the Russian guests... All in all, we would not go back here and would not recommend. Very disappointing.

We went to this resort - a family of 4, 2 teenage kids - in July for a week. Super week. Relaxing, beautiful views, phenomenal service. We only have great things to say in terms of the value of our vacation as well. The rooms are fine (the TV and other amenities rather dated), the pools are very nice (when we were their the water was not sea water, which we had heard it would be), the location right on the beach with sand is fantastic. Near the beach also are bars and other service amenities (pizza served at noon). One really could just spend the whole day there and not return to the room or meals. The food in the main restaurant was very good for an "all-inclusive" set up but as others have noted, the best place to dine is to make a reservation at the Tavernia near the beach. The food is better. Even so, eating meals on the Med under a canopy is breathtaking. Great diversity of tourists - Russians, Germans, French, Italian, English, Polish, etc. The most incredible thing about Mitsis Rinela are the people who work their. We experienced unbelievable hospitality: need a spot on the beach, chairs will be brought for you if you ask. We found everyone willing to go the extra mile to help us out. Here is an amazing example. We lost our expensive camera and lens and a Go Pro. We found out the morning we were leaving. We left for Poland and yet in our email and phone conversation with Rinela and George, our items were mailed back to us, just in time when we were then heading back to the United States. For this reason, alone, and added with the value ratio (what you pay for what you get), I only only have great things to say about Rinela and Crete. We like to visit a different country each time visit we make it to Europe but we will certainly be tempted to return and recommend it to other families. Still stunned by the service. That simply does not happen elsewhere. We leave it to others to talk about the on-site entertainment, activities and such. Great excursion opportunities as well to Knossos and beyond.
