We (my wife, our 13 yr old daughter and myself) spent 1 week at the Blue Sea Beach Hotel between 25 July-1 August. Overall it was a nice experience and I must say in advance that I can fully recommend the place for everyone. In a bit more detail: As soon as we learnt that starting this year we can fly directly to Crete from our local airport we decided that we will take advantage of the opportunity and soon we booked a 1 week trip (halfboard) with Neckerman. In their catalogue this hotel is shown as 4*+ but in the hotel they refer to themselves as 5 star. I think the former is correct and the hotel offers everything you can expect from a greek beachhotel. First, it is directly on the beach ( as directly as it can be in Greece as a small road separates it from the beach area.). The lobby is small but neat, checkin was quick. We got a room (305) in the main building very close to the reception which was big enough for the three of us (and our luggage). The buildings of the hotel are 2-3 stories so they don't intend to dominate the coastline. Instead they let the sea show its full beauty and steal the show. Our room on the middle floor (the same floor as the reception) was officially "garden view" but to our nice surprise we could see the sea from our balcony so we considered it "partially seaview" :-). The AC in the room worked perfectly and ran quietly. For breakfast and dinner we walked towards the sea (less than 1 min) through the nice garden of the hotel and both from the balcony and from the inside of the restaurant we had a very nice view on the bay. Food was pretty good and more varied than we usually experience in similar beach hotels. The athmosphere is quite relaxed, people don't fight for food or good tables. Guests: families and couples of different kinds and ages Policies: At checkin we were informed about two policies of the hotel: 1. At dinner gents are expected to wear trousers ending below the kneeline and although many people "violated" this rule by a couple of centimeters, I haven't seen any guests being harrassed by the staff for it. (I am oversensitive to this issue since some years ago at Mallorca I was refused entry to the hotel restaurant as unaware of their policy I did not bring with me any long trousers and I had to buy one on the spot. Since this humiliation I always bring dinner trousers with me for vacations.). 2. They dont allow guests to reserve sunbeds very early on and collect towels left on the sunbeds between 8p.m and 8 a.m. (The policy is enforced by one hotel employee ("bellboy") collecting violators' towels before 8am). We liked this very much as this way we could always find available umbrellas and sunbeds around 8 am in the garden area with stunning view on the sea and with no charge. (Accross the road in the sandy beach a sunbed costs 4eur each.) Beach: crystal clear water, sandy beach flanked by rocky areas. Water temperature was just perfect for us in the first 2-3 days but than water became a bit warmer than pleasant. Pools: 2 pools adjacent to each other. The one overlooking the sea offers a stunning view. (The water is too warm though.) Area: starting at the corner of the hotel there are different shops and restaurants serving all needs of tourists at very reasonable prices. Minibar: One of the best things in the hotel was the lack of minibar! :-). Instead there was a small fridge there and you could fill it with anything you purchased in nearby shops. WiFi: free WiFi in the lobby and in the bar Beachtowels: every guest gets one big light blue beachtowel in addition to the white ones to be used in the room. Staff: staff was nice to us, courteous, friedly and smiling. I can't help mentioning Helen from the restaurant (terrace area) who went way beyond what is expected from a good waitress. She smiled all the time, she talked to us and others whenever she passed by our table, she made babys stop crying, she flirted with children and we witnessed her giving earrings to 2 little girls making them extremely happy. She appeared to enjoy every moment of the time she spent working. We have never seen anybody like her in hotels and restaurants anywhere in the world. Thank you very much Helen! In summary, we would not hesitate for a second to return to this hotel. It proved to be a very good choice!

We booked a room with garden view. We had a sort of room with a garden view. Right above the reception with a sight in a bunch of trees. The pool wasn't really a big one. 2 very small pools and not so many sunbeds neither. (Only in the grass a couple of meters away.) The restaurant, food was good and was quickly refilled when a plate was empty. But, they said they wanted a dress code, i havent seen anything about this! There were even men on flipflops (no not sandals, flipflops..). For a 5 star hotel talking about a dresscode, this could really do better. The service in the restaurant was good, helpful and friendly. The sea is hot, clear but before you reach it, you need to cross a street. Not a busy road, but in the evening/at night there are some quads cruising around.. there is a small part rocks but also enough sand and sunbeds available. (But you dont need to arrive later then 10.30 on the beach or you wont have a place. The rooms were not really worth mentioning.. Like a previous post already told us, they put the younger people somewhere in a small room above the reception which has a lot of negative things.. the only positive one is that there is good wifi (you need to pay elsewhere in the hotel, only the reception is for free) and the flatscreen TV. Rooms cons: - Above the reception, you even hear the phone ringing during the night.. - Terras is made for ants, there is a small table with 2 chairs, but how to get on those? No idea. - Minibar, not filled. Not even water.. (and the water is not for free in the hotel, even not for all inclusive.) - There was not even a welcome card dith information about the hotel? (This is rather personally, not for everyone this is important.) - Toiletpaper? It was always a guess if we would make it to the next morning with this.. they don't even refill it and we needed to ask it to the reception twice. (Hopefully, tomorrow it will be better.) The drinks were ok. But could be really better. It's better to take half pension instead of all in. Not worth the money of the juices and other things.. better to just buy a bottle of wine in the evening while having dinner. The hotel in general, looking good from the outside. But not really worth a 5 star hotel.

First we were put to a room like thingy 2 mins walk away from the main building. Following some complaints we got a better room closer to the central hotel. Not considering the first disappointing moments this hotel offered everything we wanted for our stay. Entertaining, tidy place, good food and nice staff. Pool and view are great. Lots of bars and restaurants and shopping and car hire just a walking distance at the marina. Worth the money we paid. Overall this is a nice place.
