The fishing village of Almyrida lies between the towns of Chania and Rethimno. Its traditional taverns serve fresh fish. There are various shops with souvenirs, bars and cafes on the beachfront. The bay is home to Kera, Plaka, Kambia, Kokkino Horio, all beautiful small resorts within walking distance from the hotel. The area was a colony of the ancient civilization of the Pheanicians. In Almyrida archeologists discovered temples with frescoes of the Royal Church of Rhythm of the 5th century BC. The small island of Karga is ideal for sailing and fishing. Nearby Kokkino Horio is the village where Zorba the Greek was filmed, home to a small factory of glass-making. Kambia is home to old traditional well-preserved houses with beautifully landscaped gardens and to the small chapel of Aghios Nikitas.
