The hotel was very clean although our room was a little dated and our bed was very hard and uncomfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mahmoud Attia who was the bar man by the Relaxation Pool and Mohammed our cleaner (room 752). We would definitely go again - so relaxing.

We visited the Royal Albatros in August for two weeks. As we had arranged for Falcon Adventures to pick us up from the airport for £10 each way for a family of 5 it only took us about 10 minutes to get there. Check in was quick and we were shown to our room which was a Royal Suite. The suite had a living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and two balconies. Great space for us. But don't expect the pictures as shown on the website we had one of the older rooms. Having said that it met our needs with plenty of space and a great view. As it was late when we arrived we weren't really expecting any food to be available. We had a walk round and the Italian restaurant is open late until i think its 12am with a small selection of food every night. The main pool is great for kids. A huge area of it is about adult knee deep and on the other side of the rope it gets deeper. As other people have mentioned it isn't tiled it is covered with some plastic material but hasn't been laid very well as there are ridges in it everywhere. There is another pool adjacent to this with plenty of slides for the younger kids probably to about age 10. The aqua park is situated at the front of the hotel, only a 5 min walk from the main pool but when its 46 degrees sometimes you can't be bothered walking. It has 5 different types of slides, which are great for the more adventurous and the lifeguards are very attentive. Under shade are the big double beds and a bar, it doesn't serve alcoholic drinks here. I haven't rated this accommodation 5 stars due to the restaurant layout. There are 5 restaurants here, a chinese, german, italian, mediteranean and a tagine. If you don't have fussy eaters then you could chose to sit in a different one each night. But for us we had to find a table in one restaurant and then look in each one to see what you would like and make your way back through all the restaurants to your table. It did get to be a bit of a hassle. The coffee bar upstairs is excellent and they serve cakes and pastries in the afternoon. Outside on the terrace pancakes and doughnuts are availalbe from 4pm. The animation team did work hard but not really for us as we weren't in their age bracket of 18 - 23! The jetty is excellent. Quite a long walk but I loved going after breakfast as there is a nice breeze. There are different points where you can get off the jetty into shallower water with plenty of fish to see. At the end of the jetty you can get into the deeper water and see the coral. What makes this hotel is the staff. Always friendly with a smile on their faces and nothing is too much trouble. We must say a big thank you to Ahmed and Tahar from the pool bar they kept the drinks flowing and they are great guys. It really is a good hotel, it is just the restaurants layout that was offputting for us.

We stayed in this hotel in August, possibly the hottest part of the year. Dont get me wrong, my review wont be fully of negatives, indeed the hotel has some very redeeming features but I feel it lacks in consistency. I traveled with four children and six adults. It was difficult for the hotel to accommodate us within easy reach of each other but this wasn't really a problem. On arrival we found we had been upgraded from a family room, to a two bedroom family suite with plenty bed space and brilliant air conditioning. We stayed in Room 2103, which had a few of the water park and front gates to the hotel. Quite the trek to the kids pool with some VERY early starts to the day to ensure that our complete party got sunbeds together. Room was clean and the domestic staff cleaned the room every day. Clean yes, but definitelty in need of some TLC. Wooden furniture looked a little tired but overall okay. TIP -take extra clothes hangers!!! Pool Areas... Kids pool is great. Waist height and with good access, plenty areas around for sunbeds and AHMED was our waiter who always smiled and saw we had plenty to drink throughout the day. Pool at times felt somewhat slimy, presumably because of the amount of sun cream used by us pale British blondes!! Active Pool-admittedly I didn't spend much time in the active pool, but always seemed to be some kind of game or activity going on. Poolside toilet was at times disgusting.... at times I walked back to my room to use the loo as I couldn't face using them!! Entertainment- I feel that this let the hotel down slightly. The same three singers on every night, who although were every enthusiastic, perhaps didn't go to singing school!! Short break from the singers for a somewhat tired looking turkish dancing/egyptian dance/act/ show etc. Definitely needs a big shake up with a much wider variety for the audience. My overall main problems with this hotel was the lack of consistency with the alcoholic drinks. The cocktails were so strange. Different waiters made them to differing strengths. The vodka tasted like a chemical cleaner. Ice became an issue in the outside bar, so at times we had warm drinks. Beer at times was flat. I only wish I had taken up the advice of a previous traveler and bought alcohol in the airport and took it out with me at night. Food-Overall fine. I found the set out slightly strange, every 'restaurant' was a free for all, so you could eat from any buffet. But overall a wide and varying range with lots to offer. Hope this review helps. xx
