We stayed at the Moderna last Febuary 2014. Taken a while to write this but better late than never! Firstly HUGE.... we stayed in a 2nd floor room opposite the busy pool lovely view room a bit dark but nice. We were about 5mins walk from the beach...very attentive beach guys! and waiters on the beach which was lovely! The pier was a dissapointment for us very very long! as it took 20 mins to walk the length too long we are both keen snorkelers so that was too far for us but apart from that was my only gripe about the holiday. Now the food side of the holiday was excellent. Lots of choice from the restaurants...the Beach one was our favourite with freshly made pizzas and burgers, hotdogs salads etc loads of choice. the swimming pools looked lovely but because of the time of the year 3rd Feb 10 days they were ICY!!!. Staff very nice but I have been in other hotels in Sharm were they have been more genuinely attentive. However I would highly recommend this hotel purely that it has everything there you don't need to leave it and if you are foodies like us you will love it......but be prepared for a long walk if you enjoy swimming with the nemo's x

Well what can I say, the first night of arrival was awful! Checked in relatively swiftly, room was spacious with some lovely extra bits thrown in. However, we arrived at dinner time and made our way to the restaurant and could not believe our eyes. There are lots of different restaurants whereby everyone goes from one restaurant to another and then tries to find a seat. By the time you get back to your table your food is cold, oh but then you also have to get your own drinks. So you get a glass of wine and the glass is so small that a couple of mouthfuls and its gone so you have to get up again to get another drink. There is no waiter service whatsoever. The Hotel is lovely but maybe too large hence why meal times are so hectic. The pools are lovely and the whole area is really clean. The staff in general are fantastic from room cleaner, bar staff and pool staff. I wish I could have said the same about the reception staff. We had three seperate occasions whereby the staff were rude to us. When checking in, we were asked for our passports and then the guy took our passport and preceded to go and help another guest. We asked whether we could change some money up at the area of the desk which clearly marked up CASHIER only to be told, there is a cash machine over there, we do not change money. The other occasion was we had enquired about the Hard Rock Cafe leaflet we had in our room and were we meant to get a voucher from reception as there was also a large bill board near the beach bar stating that we should enquire with reception. Only to be told they knew nothing about it and we had to see the animation team. We then spent 15 minutes trying to find someone from the animation team who told us it had nothing to do with them and it was the hotels' promotion. So we went back to the Reception and they refused to interact with us at all saying that it had nothing to do with the hotel, despite the fact that someone in the hotel would have been instructed to leave the leaflets in the rooms. It was our wedding anniversary and really put a bad taste in our mouths for the evening. The drink was terrible but we were told that if we went to Soho Square they had a duty free shop. So off we went 20 egyptian pounds later arrive in Soho Square and found the duty free shop only to find out that you can only buy duty free within 48 hours of landing in Sharm and you would have had to take your passport. We did have a nice time and once we worked out a way to find a table for dinner someone a little quieter we did get a routine going, however, we never actually had a lot of time with the whole family to eat as someone always had to stay at the table otherwise it was lost. I would not go back again but would say that it was clean and there was plenty to do. One more gripe I'm afraid, the sunbed situation was terrible. You had to be up really early to ensure you got a sunbed. However, there is loads of room and they could quite easily have a lot more sunbeds.

We stayed at the hotel for a week from the 2nd May for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, following a recommendation from a friend who has been to RAM five times. Having been ourselves we can understand why as this hotel simply had something for everyone. Although our room was on the quiet pool side we spent more time by the active pool but enjoyed the walk between the two. The staff were wonderful from our cleaner to the Sports Bar and Irish Bar waiters. Although we greatly enjoyed our week as a couple we would like to return with our two children aged 21 and 16 as there was so much there that they would enjoy. We didn't know what to expect from Egypt but loved the African vibe and can't wait to return.
