I have recently returned from a break to the Santa Maria with my partner and 4 year old daughter. We stayed half board. The hotel location was brilliant for accessing the local attractions. But I would only stay here again self catering as it is so cheap to eat out in the local area and the good is delicious. The food in the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. It was only worth attending for the BBQ on the Wednesday as there was better quality meat offered other than that the food was pretty much similar each evening. Chips with the occasional vegetable, usually 2 selections of meat and a decennial salad bar. Desserts were bland. When we first checked in which was pretty quick wee hired a safe at 3euros per day and found it didn't work. When this was reported to reception the maintenance man was sent who came within 5 minutes and found battery had failed. All fixed within half hour of reporting fault which I found fab. The room wasn't particularly cleaned very well but overall it was bright and spacious enough for the 3 of us and brilliant views over the pool an sea. No air conditioning in the room but the room had a ceiling fan over the bed area and the hotel had provided a tower fan which was enough to keep the room cool enough to sleep even in the extreme temp whereby it hit 43* one day. Cleaner at the hotel. What can I say. Rudest woman I have ever met. She came into our room and started sweeping the floor my little girl spoke to her (in Spanish) and was ignored she then went out into the balcony and we had a bucket and spade which had tipped over spilling a tiny amount of sand into the corner of the balcony. This woman then proceeded to shout in Spanish which we understood to be swear words at the tiny sand which had gathered after that we made sure we were never in the room again as I think I would've flipped had she been rude to my daughter again. Overall the staff were generally pleasant one or two were rather rude but we ignored them. Water pressure in the shower was fab was like having a power shower towels were changed every day as you would expect. Poolside. Wow. People were actually reserving their sunbeds the night before. If you didn't take down your towel by around 9.30 you didn't get a bed. Bearing in mind the majority of those who reserved a poolside bed didn't actually come down to the pool until about 5pm. Staff did nothing to rectify the situation. Pool area overall is quite nice and clean although no inflatables allowed in the main pool at all this includes balls. They're very strict with that. If you do want to go half board pay a bit extra and stay at fanabe costa sur. Hotel is absolutely fine and I would stay again but only self catering

Just returned from a weeks stay at Santa Maria, Costa Adeje itself is a lovely area of tenerife - always something to do, alot of nice bars and restaurants at reasonable prices. However it must be said that the people outside the bars are very pushy to get you to go inside and there are alot of mithering 'looky looky' men and women which got quite annoying. The hotel was always very clean but fairly basic. Our four person room was spacious with two separate bedrooms a living room and toilet. The rooms are cleaned most days of the week to a good standard. However we once got our towels changed to ones with worn holes in. Pool area was clean but fairly small and the kids entertainment during the day was very limited. The staff during our stay were not particularly friendly or helpful. On our arrival we were not told how our 'full board' system worked which resulted in us being unaware drinks were not provided with a meal. Also due to a lack of explanation from staff we were not told we had to take our 'food card' with us to meals which caused issues when the hotel staff tried to charge us for our lunch on the first day. The food provided was average- breakfast was ok however the eggs were inedible as they were overcooked and the bacon was very fatty, lunch was very repetitive with only pizza, meat and a salad bar available everyday. The same goes for dinner, nothing special and everything seemed to have a lot of salt in. The free wifi had a very bad connection and the drinks at the hotel were overpriced. We overall enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to Costa Adeje however stay at a different hotel.

Stayed in June for second time. Food was great, which was one of the reasons we returned to the hotel. The restaurant was busier than last November and sometimes you had to wait for plates, cutlery and food! but not really a problem, just a little patience! The apartments were cleaned regularly and the maids were all very pleasant. There was no early morning rush for sunbeds and usually you could always find a bed. The evening entertainment was mainly for children and finished quite early. The rooms had everything needed, fridge, microwave, hairdryer - even showergel and soap in the bathroom. TV had a couple of English channels and was free of charge. Wifi was in reception and quite slow (mainly because of so many users), but could be purchased for odd days or a week. The hotel is situated up a short hill and a bit of a pain with your suitcase, but there is a lift in the hotel to the various floors.
