My Wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in June. I have stopped in a lot of 4 star hotels that come nowhere near the standard of this hotel. Pool area great, pool bar/restaurant spot on, rooms nice and very clean, food good and the location really great. In all we really can't fault this place. We will defiantly be back.

I have just returned from a 2 week stay at Santa maria for what we paid it was great . Rooms are simple with little kitchen nothing fancy but not in room that much nothing fancy needed. We had a 1 bedroom pool/ seaview room on 5th floor great views of the sea . If we book again for next year we would get a 2 bedroom as they expected my little girl to sleep on a sofa not sofa bed they just put a sheet and pillow on normal sofa so she ended up sleeping with us for the 2 weeks which was ok as beds big enough . Brwakfast was ok don't expect English breakfast as you won't get it they eat different so hot stuff didn't look or taste nice but for toast, jam and pastries was great . We have said we would go self catering next year though as we only had toast every morning and can make that in room . Frank the guy on reception is a credit to the hotel my daughter is autistic and will chat to everyone but with her approach not every one responds to her but he made her feel very welcome and said hello to her everytime he seem her . Pool is nice but get up early if you want a sunbed next to poolside as normally all gone by 8am . If you want sun don't sit next to small pool it's in shade most of the day best ones we found we the row by the bar . If you want to get soaked every time someone gets in the pool sit in ones right at the front of big pool everything gets soaked. Lovely hotel for what you pay for . Trip tip at the end of the road cross over and opposite the super market there is a shop for trips go see lady called Rosie she was great and gave us big discount. If you have children go to aqualand worth every penny . My daughter is 5 can't swim but she could still go on most things . Also great places to eat nearby turn left at bottom of hill Victorias and Amanda's wonderful places food great and 3 courses 7.95 . Do not eat at milhaney or Chinese at bottom of road not good at all

I stayed here with my friend in March 2014 and the hotel was quite a nice surprise. I expected it to be dirty because it was cheap an some reviews weren't great but it was clean, though simple. Our room was very big and the pool was clean (but very cold) and it was difficult to find any sun loungers in the morning because even though we didn't go on holiday when schools were on half term, there were quite a few families. When we arrived we had to wait 2 hours because our room hadn't been cleaned and when we finally got in they had left the fridge full of food and hadn't emptied the bins. This wasn't a problem as they came back very quickly once we told them. The only downside to our room was that it was next to a Karaoke pub which was REALLY noisy until about 1am. The breakfast was quite nice and the location is great so fab hotel if you're looking for a cheap holiday.

Hovima santa Maria is 3 star hotel, no more, no less!! Can not recommenend to stay for full board, breakfast is only OK, dinner buffet!! have seen it a lot better. The hotel need to be renewed, the bar downstair is very out of fashion, and the evening entertainment might held in the garden. The hotel is clean, and staff very friendly. Great location. The wifi service is awful!
