Just back from Ficus...those who are complaining this is a 3 star if you want 5 star you booked the wrong place x it is a 5 minute walk from centre of costa teguise. 2 mins to a spar .Beware you need to be down at 7am to reserve a bed. There is no kids club but katy and stuart do there upmost to entertain you a cracking team and im sure stuart will do well in katys absence shes a great teacher and both great fun !! "Moist katy ....moist !!!! " Overall this place is what it is a 3 star hotel. The foods fine more importantly cooked and the place is clean. The bar staff are polite . About the pool area be careful it is slippy...but if the kids dont run they wont slip simples. Wont be going back as never go back to same place but a great holiday had by all.

Travelled as a party of 3 adults, 2 young children in Oct 14. Was worried when we arrived in the afternoon that this hotel was not what I had expected...I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted warmly by reception staff and had a quick and seamless check-in. When we found our room in Block 2, ground floor, I was amazed, it was a modern, clean apartment. With cooking/refrigeration facilities. At the entrance to our apartment, there was a small play park much to the delight of my children. We had a 1 year old with us so required a travel cot, which was all set up in advance with a more comfortable mattress within that you'd get in the majority of hotels even in the UK. My older child slept on the couch/bed within the living area and had no issues. In regards to food, all 5 of us found something to eat at every meal time with no complaints. Different types of meat cooked freshly on the griddle in front of you, dishes quickly replenished, fresh fruit available, plenty of dessert choices. The breakfast pancakes and chocolate sauce is amazing! It was my daughter's birthday whilst we stayed at the Ficus, and they could not have been more helpful. I ordered a cake via reception and the staff did everything they could to make it special for her. The pool and surrounding area was cleaned regularly and we had no issues. The surrounding area is obviously bound to get slippy throughout the day. The daily entertainment was great and the reps tried tirelessly to get the crowd involved with games, quizzes, both adults and children. The evening entertainment granted, was loud, but was great fun. The usual children's disco (which both my children, and their wee friends they'd met, loved), on 2 different nights, there was a reptile show and the other a bird show, there was also the usual, bingo, Mr Ficus etc, all in the name of a bit of fun, which lets be honest, is why go on holiday! As mentioned previously, we stayed in Block 2, on the ground floor. Block 1 is closest to the Show Bar, where my dad stayed and he slept fine through the noise. Our balcony was exceptionally close to the show bar which I was worried about, but I quite enjoyed sitting on our balcony listening while my children slept within the room. Both my children and ourselves slept through the noise as once the balcony doors are shut and you are in your room towards the back of the apartment, it's not too bad at all. The ground floor was ideal for us with the buggy. The location of the hotel itself is great I found. Yes, there is undeveloped land to the back of the hotel, but your balcony won't look out over there so I don't see the issue. There is a 10 minute walk to the beautiful beach and promenade. You can walk via a manmade track (I done this with the buggy) or opt to walk the pavement, either or is much of a muchness. There is wifi within the reception area of the hotel but we didn't use it as let's be honest, you should be enjoying time with your family/loved ones, not surfing the web! A very small gripe would be, there was only a handful of stationary parasols around the pool BUT there is shaded areas around the pool also that you can use should you wish. This was my first visit to Lanzarote and I have fell in love with Costa Teguise. Overall, you can pick up a holiday at this hotel for an absolute bargain! We have booked to return in Oct 2015 and despite some negative reviews, I can't wait as I know what I am expecting.

I am here now! The rooms are what you would expect from a low budget holiday. Clean and very basic. No cutlery etc. But the food is terrible, the evening venue is horrendous, human feaces in the pool! We are eating out in evenings, we can just about put up with it for breakfast, lunch is salad and pasta, but the evening meal is no different. The town it self is beautiful. reps are great but everyone here is unhappy. No place to sit in evening outside other than the one table. I went to try and talk to receptionist tonight but was given his name budge and he walked off. The day staff try there best . If you have booked and can change your booking Do it! It's not good. I am pleased we only booked a week! 3 days in, and we are looking forward to home. The only good point is that it is so bad the customers have a type of connections, suffering together. To the hotel, constructive criticism, make evening meal nice experience. A table cloth and some where to sit outside would help. Something else other than salad, chips and pasta And an odd chicken wing. Knock down the evening venue and give us a nice place to sit and have an evening. Some outside tables and chairs. Turn the music down slightly around pool during day. Involve the children more. A word of warning !! Three people have injured themselves in two days with a very slippery surface around d the pool, one of which was my son.( he had confusion, one child had stitches and spent the night in hospital, one man badly bruised!) So if you insist on coming here, tell your children to walk and be careful on the white area around pool. The pool attendant doesnt speak English so not much help in an emergency! I know his is a budget hotel... But make the experience a nice one, no one here is expecting a five star but this is just not acceptable.

Just back from a week at the Ficus in Costa Teguise with daughter and grandaughter. The Ficus is a family-orientated hotel. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The apartments are comfortable - ours was cleaned each day with linen changed 3 times during the week. The restaurant is clean and well-ordered with food being replaced as supplies diminish. Quality and choice of food is very good and well-presented. Restaurant staff very pleasant and hard-working to keep things running smoothly. We have been here 5 times and enjoyed each time. The pool area is clean and wel maintained. Staff clean actual pool twice each day and also monitor water quality daily. No complaints about Ficus, its staff and Management. regarding entertainment - this is run by Thomas Cook reps Stuart and Katy - very repetitive each day but kids enjoy it even with Katy continually shouting (screaming) inyo the microphone at them. The evening adult entertainment is also repetitive - bingo, quiz followed by rep led entertainment which, even if you are broad-minded, seems to consist of games to include drinking with somewhat risque commentary from Katy. However, you do not have to participate if this is not your scenre
