We arrived around 9.15pm and were told the restaurant closed at half past and weren't offered the chance to eat, as we were too late despite been all inclusive and paying for dinner that first evening, not the best start but never mind. The room was modern with a living room area and kitchen although we didn't use it as we were all inclusive, modern bathroom and bedroom, the balcony was very big with a table and chairs as well as two sun beds with an amazing view! The rooms were cleaned a couple of times a week and the cleaner was very friendly, the hotel was very quiet the first week we were there so there was no problem with getting a sun bed, we usually went down around 11am and here was still plenty to choice from. All staff in the bar and restaurant were friendly, smiley and would happily help in anyway they could. The wine was ok, the beer was good according to my Fiancé, plenty of choice for soft drinks and a few cocktails on the menu were included in the all inclusive package some others were a small charge. The food was the usual for an all inclusive hotel, my fiancé loved all the choice of meat however as a vegetarian there was a limited choice for me although they did appear to cater for gluten free quite well? There is free wifi in the reception area otherwise you have to pay for it, there is a tv in the room which is payable at reception, you can rent a safe which we did, although we weren't worried about security it's always best to be safe, the Spar shop onsite is very reasonable for anything you may have forgotten or run out of. The entertainment isn't the best but what can you expect for Spain, the entertainment staff all tried hard and were friendly, daily activities included killer darts, killer pool, water polo and party hour including cash prize bingo! On an evening there was an acrobatic show, fashion show, quizzes, singers, bird shows etc followed by music and karaoke until the place closes down at 11.30pm. Overall we had a great time here, there was a heatwave whilst we were there which made it hard to sleep on a night as there was no air con but it's a 3 star hotel and they provide a really good service and we felt like we got good value for money. If your looking for a decent hotel to stay at for some nice sunshine, which is clean, ok food and friendly staff then the Altamar is definitely worth a go, we'd definitely return for a cheap week of sunshine in the future.

We have just returned from another 14 night stay at the Altamar. As this is somewhere we return to at least once a year, we feel 'on holiday' from the minute we walk through the door. Each time we return we notice improvements have been made, it seems the staff are striving to achieve a high standard. Rooms have large balconies with sunbeds and table & chairs provided. There are 2 pools with sunbeds and a few mattresses if required. This is a 3star aparthotel and as such is good value for money. It can get quite busy in the height of the summer (which is why we go out of season). There is free Wifi in the large reception area, and the opportunity to purchase Wifi for rooms if required. Kettles are not supplied as standard but are available as an extra, however, we manage with a saucepan :) The food is good from either the buffet or the snack/ a la carte menus. The staff are generally happy and helpful, and the Chef will try his best to help cater for your requirements. The reception staff will try to accommodate room requests where possible and will happily advise you about bus timetables, etc. A short walk to the nearby Europa Centre, and taxi rank just outside if you wish to go further afield.
As UK, Courses or boosters sometimes advised: hepatitis A (not normally for package tourists).
