We have just returned from a fantastic 2 week family holiday staying at Los Zocos. The hotel provided us with everything we were expecting. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the entertainment staff were absolutely brilliant, bursting with energy regardless of time of day/night, and always had a smile on their faces. Special thanks to Alberto!! The resort was perfect for us, with pool activities and pool bar for my son and his friends, and smaller pool for my daughter who's 3. Quality and choice of food was better than I expected. We would definitely stay here again. I think that the hotel should look at the layout of the evening entertainment and the use of the ship restaurant, which is a lovely venue and not utilised to its full potential. Air con is needed in the restaurant and Agua Marine. High recommend staying here for the money you pay.

I’ve just come back from 2 weeks holiday at this resort. Overall I enjoyed my time at the Los Zocos, but with a few changes this resort could be perfect family holiday destination. This resort is currently ideal for families with children under the age of 11 (junior school), but with a few tweaks, this could be the perfect family holiday for families of all ages within a budget. First Impression 5 out of 5 The resort is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It is a resort and would easily take 20 minutes to walk all the way around it. It is very clean and the majority of guests were families or couples, with none of your typical 18-30 crowd. Check in 4.5 out of 5 I knew after emailing the hotel, that check in was at 4pm (we arrived at the hotel at 11am) but we were given our room early at 2pm. I still think this could have been a bit earlier, as we were out of our room at 7.30am on the day we left, so the cleaners had plenty of time to get this room ready for other guests turning up early. The check in process was painless and as I had emailed the hotel beforehand and was given the room I requested. Staff 5 out of 5 The staff are always smiling and happy to help. The room had a slight fault, the fan had slipped down and was making a loud noise while banging the light. I told reception and this was fixed straight away without any questions. The bar staff and restaurant staff were polite and were always shouting out “NEXT PLEASE” as guests in the front of the queue were distracted / chatting and not realising they were holding up the queue. I must give a big thank you to the young barman with glasses in the pool bar who made a perfect Bloody Mary cocktail (sorry forget his name) and the girl who worked in the Hollywood bar (you would see her in the restaurant in the afternoon) for making the best kids cocktails (I’m not sure what went in them but they drank enough of them!)and always smiling even though the bar was at boiling point most nights. Animation 5 out of 5 The animation team were great and organised activities from mid morning till lunch time and then again from 3.30 – 4,30pm. They organised different activities for the different age ranges, e.g. young children, children aged 8-15 and adults. The activities were great and highly entertaining - most of the adults ones ended up with the losers jumping into the ice cold pool - thanks to Alberto and his additional rules, such as clap when I say aplauso!! Even with these activities going on the BEST DAY was the Olympics day where everyone could take part and was a great family day. This day all the usual activities were cancelled and everyone, regardless of age could join one of the 2 Olympic teams. The games included passing a wet towel over everyone’s head from the pool and squeezing it into a bucket and the first to fill the bucket won. ** If anyone from the animation team is reading this review, you need to have MORE days like this, as everyone I spoke to, said this was their favourite day. It’s just a pity this only happened once every 2 weeks.** Food 3.5 out of 5 The food was very hit and miss. The breakfast, as per lots of previous reviews, was the best meal, although you could offer a bigger cereal selection, rather than just coco pops, sugar puffs, muesli and cornflakes. Even though the hotel offered theme nights every other night (Carvery, Chinese etc, which were very nice), the rest of the nights, the food was very bland. I didn’t have a problem with the main meals as I will eat anything, but my son and wife who are not big fans of fish or pork, did struggle on some nights. I know the hotel caters for different nationalities (there were a lot of Spanish and French in the resort when we stayed), but you should try and offer a few more chicken/turkey/beef dishes on these nights. Jacket potatoes would have been nice alternative once or twice, rather than rice, chips or pasta. Deserts –The ice cream was in tubs which you scoped out what you wanted. The freezers were to high for the younger children apart from the one in the children’s food area, which none of the children used! Younger/smaller children found it hard to get to the ice cream and were practically leaning over the side of the freezer with their hands and arms in the ice cream (disgusting). The hotel needs to restrict children to the lower freezer in the children’s food area and the main one should be for over 10’s. This way parents can get the ice cream for the younger children or they can go to the one allocated for them. This was one of the biggest faults with the hotel and you would frequently overhear other guests discussing the ice cream situation. To go with the ice cream you would have limited cakes or pastries, but a nice apple crumble or in fact just a bit more variety would have been brilliant. Night-time entertainment 2/5 (perhaps a bit harsh, but I wasn’t the target audience) This was the hotels big letdown (well for me as I had a 12 year old with me). The entertainment would start with a kiddie disco at 8.15pm, followed by a show at 9.30 and would end by 10.15. Both were aimed at children under 11 (perhaps even younger). For 2 nights the entertainment catered for everyone (comedy night and Michael Jackson night), but if I didn’t ask the animation team before hand what the shows were about, I wouldn’t have know this. Both these events involved the animation team and they maybe they should have been a bit more proactive in plugging these shows. The hall the entertainment is in, is badly designed and this needs to be addressed in the revamp. The hall is curved and only half the seats could actually see the stage, the other half you can see columns holding up the roof or the bar! The seats where more like cinema seats in rows (not a table and chairs) so you couldn’t really speak to everyone in your group without shouting. To add to this, this is the hottest part of the hotel and with no air-conditioning or even any open windows. You would literary be sweating in your seat! Due to the entertainment being aimed at younger children and the hall being a sweat box, we spent a night at the pool bar. A few shows were held at the pool bar, which was better heat wise, but there was a lack of seats when the shows were on, as everyone sat on the sun beds. Perhaps some cheap plastic chairs (garden furniture etc) could be purchased in the revamp for the guests to sit on. We actually sat inside the pool bar on these nights and missed what was going on. My son being 12, said all his new holiday friends would laugh at him if he watched the entertainment and to be honest the only night I saw any of the teenagers inside the hall was the Michael Jackson and Comedy night. Maybe the animation team could start the kiddie disco started earlier, maybe 7.30pm and the shows (e.g. parrot show, reptile show, jugglers etc) at 8.15pm. The animation team could then put on something for adults and teenagers after this. While I was here, the animation team built up such a great rapport with the guests during the day, they could easily get a few volunteers for simple ‘challenge shows’ in the nights e.g. boys versus girls or men versus women. The hall would empty after the show as most of the younger kids would be heading to bed, so putting on something else after they have gone would be great. Most of the teenagers spent their time around the free WIFI zone in the nights, so moving this closer to the entertainment zone would mean they would be close by to watch the entertainment for them. I like to spend time as a family on holiday and anything you could do, to keep the older children closer would be a great. There was a playstation in Bar Hollywood, but it was broken while I was here. I did hear of a few complaints about the noise in the nights at the free WIFI zone, so maybe having a free WIFI located closer, such as the small bar Hollywood could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The rowdy children will be away from the apartments and closer to their parents and it would keep the noise in-doors. Apart from the pool tables and the free WIFI, there was not a lot for teenagers to do in the nights. I did see a few of them sitting in the entertainment hall, listening to their own music through headphones, whilst playing cards with their parents. You could tell by the look on their face, they would rather be somewhere else. Room 4/5 The rooms were basic, big and hot. We knew there was no air-conditioning before we booked, but with the wind blowing through the bathroom window and patio doors open at night it was cool enough. As with most Spanish hotels, the double bed consisted of 2 singles push together. Maybe in the revamp you could offer rooms with double beds, or even a double cover, rather than 2 single beds with single covers. The bathroom contained a hairdryer. Not the most powerful, but my wife would part use the hairdryer and part sit on the balcony for 10 minutes in the heat and wind. The beds and the sofa bed were not the best (a touch little bit on the hard side) but adequate for the star rating. We stayed self catering so didn’t use the kitchen apart from the fridge, which kept drinks very cold. I didn’t see any cockroaches (perhaps I was lucky), but my wife did capture a grasshopper on the 2nd night in the bathroom. Smoking The hotel follows EU protocol and didn’t let anyone smoke in-doors. We liked to sit outside and eat at the pool bar during the day, or even outside the entertainment at night, but not being a smoker I found it a very irritating (the wind didn’t help) that there it was a constant flow of smoke around us. Maybe the resort could have a few seats outside the pool bar for eating which are non-smoking and even a few non-smoking tables outside the entertainment. Pool Bar This was great, although there were a few accidents (people slipping and banging their heads while we were here). The pool bar clearly has warning signs about entering when wet and you must wear shoes which was ignored by children. They staff did keep an eye out (including the animation team) and anyone caught wet or without shoes, was asked to leave. The pool bar had a simple selection of food – burgers, hotdogs, chips etc. they also did toasties, but these were made to order (4 at a time), so if you went during the lunchtime rush you could wait a very very long time! Maybe purchase an additional toastie machine in the revamp. The pool bar ice cream (in small tubes) and had pancakes at 3pm. Tennis and crazy golf The resort has 2 tennis courts and a crazy golf course. All are free to use, but you need to give a deposit to get the clubs and balls. The crazy golf course is not the best, but the tennis courts were great and I used them several times. The rackets and balls they provided were of decent quality as well. WIFI I purchased the WIFI for 2 weeks on 2 devices for €32. As per previous reviews this is very temperamental and if I went again I wouldn’t bother with it. My son used the free WIFI more as he could hardly get any signal on the paid WIFI, unless he was in reception and I spent ages each morning trying to log back on. Sunbeds We stayed peak season and went down at 8.50am for a sunbed as they were unchained at 9am. We then went for breakfast and came back to the beds. You don’t have to be up supper early and the only reason we reserved one at 9am was my wife wanted one that had an adjustable back. Not all the beds had backs that would lift up so you could read books. There were still free sunbeds at both pools by early afternoon. Watch live football. There are lots of bars to watch football in, close by, but the cheapest and most friendliest was Ferraris. This pub is located about a 5/6 minute walk away. Come out of the hotel, turn left and the take the first right (away from the shopping centre). You will walk for a few minutes on the outside of the resort, and pass the aquarium & Cactus Jacks (the closest entertainment pub). Once passed Cactus Jacks you will see the bar next door to the spar. Not the biggest bar, but they will find any game for you and it’s only €1.50 a pint and €2 for the nicest garlic & cheese baguette you will ever taste. Would I go back again – Maybe – I did have a good time and made some nice new holiday friends. If the resort puts more entertainment on for adults / teenagers in the night, then I would definitely be back. The animation team were brilliant and they should be used a lot more in the nights

What a excellent week we have just had staying here. A lively resort with nice and clean apartment and grounds with friendly helpful staff. We checked in late Saturday evening and the restaurant had been left open till 11 for people checking in late, a nice thought. The main restaurant is great for breakfast, with a nice selection including a fry up. We didn't use it at dinner time as the pool side bar did snacks in afternoon. There is another restaurant on site called the ship which we used quite ofter as it seemed the quieter when it opened at 7, they had quite a good selection of meals including theme nights, the Chinese and carvey where excellent. My daughter wasn't fussed about kids club but heard it was very good, they also had things for older kids. The bonbon cafe next to hotel did a lovely cuppa for about 1.50€ and the shops around were quite reasonable priced. The only thing I didn't like at the resort was the coffee machines in restaurant, the coffee wasn't very nice but our apartment had facilities for hot drinks and food, even though we were all inclusive. Overall a lovely, lively friendly resort and would definitely visit again.

Just back after 2 fab weeks. It our second stay. Have always stayed self catering. Glad we did because heard people talking that food wasn't the best. There was never a problem getting sun beds, there always stacks. Did see people at 8.30 one morning standing waiting for them to be unchained. Don't know why they bothered. Room was clean and spacious. Cleaned 5 out 7 days clean towels ever day. Beds changed 3 times in week. Will definitely return. Thankyou zocus
