We are recently back from a 2 week stay at this hotel. I travelled with my husband, father and 2 sons (3 & 5 yrs old). We all really enjoyed our stay, we felt that all aspects food/rooms/entertainment was of a very high standard. There was plenty of choice in the restaurant, for all meals. The kids loved to eat at the snack bar for lunch, which could be a bit of a sun trap. All of the staff were very attentive and friendly. The entertainment team were particularly good, we all loved the shows. Cats and Lion King were fantastic, the whole team got involved, we loved all the in-house shows and felt they were better than any other hotel entertainment we have seen. The kids club is really great, they boys loved the slides and pirate splash pool, they got involved in a number of the activities, making kites and paper mache monsters, painting eggs and an easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. Over all we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is my own personal review on our stay for a week 8th to 16th April. Hotel clean and pool area also kept tidy. Room cleaned everyday and managed to get limited wifi reception in there. Staff friendly, pool towels available for 10 euro deposit each and never had a problem getting a lounger in a morning. Food okay for a week stay but if there wasn't any change in menu options for a second week this would probably make us eat out. The only downfall is the evening entertainment which we felt was poor. Can't comment on the Spa as we never used it or the kids club. We mentioned it was my wife's 40th birthday and on arrival there was a bottle of Cava in a bucket of ice and a plate of chocolates.

Just back from another stay here. The hotel remains immaculate, to include the pool area, gardens, rooms and open areas. Check-in was quick (we got a taxi and arrived within 20 minutes of landing!) but unfortunately we were placed in Block 1 although we had requested (directly with the hotel) a quiet room in Block 2 or 3 due to the noise from the adjacent bars we know you get in Block 1 - reception weren't helpful when we requested a move so we stayed put. To add insult to injury we were also put in a room adjacent to the stairwell - the noise, at times, was ridiculous. Not sure if this request was ignored/refused because we booked through Thomson or not as we have never had a problem with rooms when we have booked directly through the Barcelo website. The food in the restaurant was amazing - always plenty of choice and replenished constantly. There was a microwave available for anyone who wanted their food hotter. We particularly liked the Lavazzo coffee, and the smoothies, at breakfast. It would have been nice to have had coffee available after dinner as the coffee served in the bar areas was not to our taste. We were half board and you are able to swap dinner for lunch if requested the night before and this was a nice bonus, although following the breakfast lunch wasn't really a priority! If you are a strict vegetarian beware - the 'vegetable soup' had chunks of meat in it - luckily I noticed and didn't take any but had been eating the blended 'vegetable soup' which was probably the same! The staff were always pleasant and, as I said before, kept everywhere immaculate, especially the gardens and pool area, which are lovely. There were very few people who got passed the pool guy with a plate or glass: he was on them within seconds getting them to change to a paper plate and plastic cup. This meant the children were free to run around without fear of treading on broken glass/crockery - well done! We didn't see much of the entertainment but the Animation Team were very enthusiastic and cheerful, without being over bearing. All in all a nice stay that would have been perfect had we got the room we requested.

The fact that I am writing about our 20th consecutive visit to Barceló Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa probably provides some indication of how good the hotel is....and it just seems to get better. From the very point of booking everything is dealt with perfectly. The website is very clear and easy to use but we always send an email to our colleagues at reception and booking and they never fail to respond with a welcoming e mail. On arrival, as always, we were soon processed through reception, given the card for our room and of course, a safe key for valuables. Rooms are beautiful and generous in size with many now benefitting from their own private outdoor Jacuzzi on their terrace. The rooms now have bluetooth radios and alarms in them...a really nice little extra along with tea and coffee making facilities. Staff from the groundsmen to the waiters, management to lifeguard, reception to the chambermaids are always friendly. It is always nice to meet up again with those staff whom we have got to know over the years and who always make time for a chat. The grounds remain immaculately presented and the theatre is still wonderful with incredible shows put on by the in house animation team as well as outside entertainers. You can expect such shows as Grease, we will Rock You, Starlight Express, Cats, Lion King, Les Miserables etc...all presented so well....fantastic entertainment for all the family. If you want to know more about Barcelo please read my other reviews which do go into some detail. However, this time we were celebrating our Silver Wedding anniversary which Barcelo was aware of. What a surprise. When we returned to the room we found a bottle of really nice wine with a fantastic selection of fruits and chocolates...the chocolates depicting a married couple and the fruit was in fantastic chocolate cups....looked absolutely wonderful. However, it did not stop there......we were also given tickets for us and our daughter to go for a fantastic romantic dinner with a special menu served in the outside pool bar/restaurant....it was incredible...a meal where the king prawns were cooked at your table in whisky and orange......absolutely fantastic. Not only that, we were also given free entry to the Thalasso Spa for a day......BUT which, because we were having such a wonderful time, we actually forgot to use. However, this is the attention to detail and kindness so typical of all our stays at Barceló. The restaurant continues to provide an incredible selection of meals and is managed by Mr Thomas Nunez, the Head Chef, who is regularly seen checking all is well. There is ALWAYS something for everyone in the menu and the food is always excellent. So as our latest holiday has come to a close, needless to say we are booked again already...it is the hotel that once you have been you will keep returning evidenced by the many friends we meet also enjoying repeat visits. Those friends of mine whom I have recommended have all returned again and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cannot speak highly enough about Barceló and take this opportunity to offer massive thanks to all the staff who continue to make our holidays with them so special.....
Remember that sunscreen on holidays in Caleta de Fuste as Fuerteventura enjoys wonderfully hot weather in the summer, peaking at 30° Celsius in July and August. Due to its location, Caleta de Fuste receives a north-easterly wind that will be welcome if you’re not an avid sun fan! If you feel like heading on holiday to Caleta de Fuste outside of the summer, then the autumn months also enjoy good weather. February enjoys temperatures of around 23° Celsius, so even then you’ll still go home with a good tan!
