If you're looking for a restful & relaxing holiday you may want to consider somewhere else. We read lots of reviews on Trip Advisor before booking our stay & we took every single bad one with a pinch of salt. We couldn't really believe half of them when looking on the Barcelo website, however, don't be fooled by the beautifully presented and staged photographs. We stayed for one week in a superior room with a spa bath. Our room was in block 2 on the ground floor. It was newly refurbished & definitely had the 'wow' factor... Initially. It was right on the edge of a noisy footpath opposite the main pool which played loud boom boom music most of the day. People passing were very nosey, looking between the blinds installed for privacy. Inside we had the main corridor leading to the dining hall, this was also noisy in the evening well into the early morning. We could hear children running around gone midnight above us too. Entrances & exits are a smokers hang out, if you don't smoke you have to walk through the smoke to get anywhere as people sit on the steps at the back entrance to smoke or before entering the dining hall. The pool is over crowded & by 8am the majority of loungers were reserved, dread to think what this is like in the school summer holidays. The loungers are so close you could touch the person next to you at less than arms length. Going back to our room it wasn't properly cleaned for 4 days. Basic & standard things you would expect like the toilet cleaning & floor swept, shower & spa bath cleaned. We politely reported this to reception & thought things would be done the following day, but they weren't, so we complained & requested the manager come to our room to look at it. The manager agreed & agreed with housekeeping for things to be put right the next day. The manager said she would speak with us again the next day to check everything, but she didn't. Later on after dinner we were in the lobby & requested a formal complaint form. Not the hotel complaint form but the official tourism board complaint form. It was quite amazing how quickly then things got resolved. The next day our room was beautifully clean & what you would expect from a 4* establishment. By this point we were very fed up with the hotel as such basic things should be a given. The complete lack of care around getting it out right in the first place was hugely disappointing & we have now submitted a formal complaint. We had a 1.5inch cockroach in our room too, which to be fair was promptly dealt with by housekeeping. The dining hall is more like a chimps tea party. The food very average & certainly not 4* when waiting staff stick your bottle of Merlot in the fridge! To be fair this was replaced free of charge but again, a very basic expectation really. The hotel could use a separate family dining area as 7.30pm for small children is quite late for dinner. Most were getting tired & crying. You can go to the Aloe bar & restaurant but you have to pay for it. We weren't all inclusive but even if you are, you have to pay. You also have to pay €3 a day plus €5 deposit for the privilege of keeping your valuables safe. This again should be standard & free of charge. You shouldn't have to pay for that kind of peace of mind. You either pay it or risk things being stolen (which others have experienced) & the hotel take full advantage of this insecurity. The hotel attracts a variety of clientele, families to couples to single people. However the majority are families. This hotel is great if you like a beer by a crowded & noisy pool, uncivilised dining & lots of evening entertainment. The best thing about our stay was having daily access to the thalasso spa as part of our room reservation. The spa is off site by around 100 metres. It's quiet, peaceful, wonderful facilities & very friendly, approachable & professional staff. We weren't there every day as we travelled to Costa calma a couple of the days but it was the only good thing, in our opinion about the hotel.
We stayed in the hotel in June the hotel was great the rooms were amazing FOOD good place NOT a LOT to do for teenagers MY son was VERY board but th place was GREAT for couples if you want to relax...

Stay here for 7 nights all inclusive. Lovely hotel but some improvements are needed! The food was OK not up to the standards of a 4 start hotel Was often cold and not a lot of choice. The rooms were good but some plumbing is needed, when i ran the water in the sink it would come out the bottom of the pipe. Some staff are lovely but can be very rude especially the waiting staff! I've been travelling to fuerteventura for many years and stayed in many different hotels and sadly there are better out there.

... but i doubt i would return. Not because of any issues, purely because i think the hotel is more suited to families. i read the reviews before i went, there was people not happy with this, not happy with that, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. The food, yea, as some have said, pretty much the same every day with a slight variation, but there is a huge choice of different stuff.. if you don't fancy fish one night, have the chicken, the fish will be there again tomorrow night...it's that kind of thing. You sort of know what will be there to eat, but with maybe a different couple of things thrown in. It's a big hotel that caters for everybody. The grounds and pools were busy, sunbeds were always available though. Location is excellent, on the beach and the shops and bars just a few minutes walk away. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Our room was a superior with hot tub, it was nice enough, it entitled us to free access to the spa, which we took advantage of, very nice it was too. The hot tub we used only once, but it's a nice touch to the room. In summary, if you are looking to stay here, don't listen to the moaners. It's big. it's busy, it's ideal for a family holiday. I would have no qualms recommending here to any family looking for a nice holiday, but if you're a couple of miserable old sods like us, who like things a little quieter, perhaps this is not for you.
Remember that sunscreen on holidays in Caleta de Fuste as Fuerteventura enjoys wonderfully hot weather in the summer, peaking at 30° Celsius in July and August. Due to its location, Caleta de Fuste receives a north-easterly wind that will be welcome if you’re not an avid sun fan! If you feel like heading on holiday to Caleta de Fuste outside of the summer, then the autumn months also enjoy good weather. February enjoys temperatures of around 23° Celsius, so even then you’ll still go home with a good tan!
