My sister-in-law and myself have just returned from a weeks AI at the Barcelo Fuerteventura Hotel and although the weather was against us [chilly and windy] I would still not recommend this as an hotel to visit if you are looking for a bit of peace and relaxation. The hotel is huge [probably our fault for not checking before booking] with the dining room having all the charm of a works canteen and just as noisy. The food was very good and the staff were excellent, but toiled to keep pace with the number of diners, so we usually ate a meal with food debris on the floor and stained table runners.....great environment for families, but not for us. Our bedroom was adequate, comfortable beds and loads of hot water, but the level of housekeeping left a bit to be desired, it seemed as if the floors were rarely swept nor washed and I would rather the bed wasn't made up simply by pulling the top cover up over all the wrinkled sheets! This is the first AI hotel I have been to where we had to pay for pool towels, I accept leaving a returnable deposit for one but actually paying 3 euros a day for a towel? also for a room kettle and use of a safe, a couple would end up paying almost an extra 60 euros per week for those 'extra' facilities. Finally, the spa....for which you would have to pay 20 euros a day to use the pool etc [although if you had booked a superior room in the hotel, these charges are waived....as are the costs mentioned above] had a very relaxing massage though in a nice environment. I can see the hotel appealing to families, especially as it is close to a very good beach but it's not a place I would recommend to friends

Lovely hotel, fantastic welcome by animation staff, the kids couldn't wait to get going, food in the main restaurant beautiful, real variety & kids corner, so something for everyone, best part of the hotel was the kids club team, Jade, Leanne & fredareca, wow what a team they work so hard & are so lovely with the children, best kids club team we have had, the night time entertainment was brilliant, the shows the entertainment team did were unbelievable is their nothing these young people can't do, from the river dance to starlight express, skating round at 100 miles a hrs, they really are fantastic, will defiantly return

A large hotel that has the ability to support some excellent evening entertainment in their circa 500 seater theatre. A very good animation team with some excellent individual talents ( loved the Stevie wonder sketch). Was a bit concerned one evening when following the mini club for kids they showed a video of the horrific starvation and deaths in Africa from part of the Band Aid show. Hotel of this size should have offered another bar area that was quiet away from the show bar and in particular adults only. Being a fit couple of 60 years it seemed rather daft for the reception to book us into a room on the ground floor right opposite the childrens play area. As we were only one week on half board we were able to avoid our balcony and the noise during the day by venturing out. Avoid 1019 to 1028 if you don't want the kids screaming all day. Also very shaded and no sun, maybe OK in hot summer. Aloe restaurant, we booked a special one evening 5 course offer for 18Euro a head, excellent food and quality wine, plenty of topping up included. Service was a bit mixed at times, they forgot out dessert, also it was very cold in some area's but we turned the heaters up. I think this was a new venture. Also in the Aloe if you are on fully inclusive then you help yourself to food and sit where you like but on half board you have to wait to be served and twice we had to go to the bar and ask for someone to come and take our orders. It seemed that throughout the hotel restaurants and bar that a few key staff were excellent at managing such a huge influx of guests but a number were not. If you want to enjoy a calm and all food availability meal then I suggest you eat early before 7pm and the same at breakfast before 9am. It gets frantic and noisy and the staff sometimes struggle to keep certain foods replenished. This aside, you must try the smoothies at breakfast. Also the quality and range of food was excellent, well prepared, many choices, high standards of hygene and some super sweet treats for kids of all ages. As much as we enjoyed our week at a good value of just over £400 a head, would we come again? probably not. A bit too noisy but ideal for families. Also we like to walk and there is little terrain of interest in this area.

This hotel is much lager than we expected so there are long corridors to negotiate to reach hotel reception and restaurant but it is well presented, clean and tidy. Rooms are a good size and the beds comfortable. There are British channels on the good sized TV in the room. Food is good with plenty of choice in buffet type restaurant which can get very busy a peak times and becomes noisy with lots of people milling about. Menus and food choices could be better labelled. WiFi is free but the service is poor and limited to reception area.
Remember that sunscreen on holidays in Caleta de Fuste as Fuerteventura enjoys wonderfully hot weather in the summer, peaking at 30° Celsius in July and August. Due to its location, Caleta de Fuste receives a north-easterly wind that will be welcome if you’re not an avid sun fan! If you feel like heading on holiday to Caleta de Fuste outside of the summer, then the autumn months also enjoy good weather. February enjoys temperatures of around 23° Celsius, so even then you’ll still go home with a good tan!
