We arrived after a tiring journey to be greeted warmly with a glass of nice bubbly. We were then shown our rooms. We booked with Saga and we had two separate rooms. As soon as the porter open the door I was delighted. Both rooms were next door to each other and the decor and lighting were very subtle and welcoming. So many Hotels don't have a clue about lighting!! There was even a separate small light adjustable over each side of the bed for reading, a fridge stacked with drinks and nibbles and a beautiful half bottle (in both rooms) of bubbly in an ice bucket. A lovely greeting! The wardrobes were beautifully lit and had sliding fluted doors. There was also a Safe for a small charge. Our maid Asen was very charming and kept our room very clean, except, for three days at the end of our holiday my bath wasn't cleaned, and I had no towels for the bidet, but this happened when Asen was on leave. We also had a kettle and tray for our tea which was laden with different teas and coffees which we requested. And, most important, the beds and the pillows were so comfortable. In our first week there were very noisy people staying in a suite overhead who partied until 3.00am one night, and because the floors are marble they wore high heels banged about and disturbed us. We phoned down to reception and they went to their room and told them to pipe down. They were antisocial people but after they left others were more considerate. In the daytime we discovered Las Rocas which was a quieter area (and 103 steps down from our room.. Good thing we are fit!!), and as the Hotel is built on a steep incline, had lovely views of the sea,a restaurant and separate bar as well as sun beds which are free to residents. The pool there was fresh seawater renewed daily and quite cold, but many people enjoyed swimming there. The other pool was mostly noisy and busier, but the water was warmer and mostly occupied by families. One moan! We would have been pleased if there had been more entertainment in the hotel. Last year we went to the Iberostar Hotel at San Agustin in south Gran Canaria and the entertainment was first class and managed by an excellent team. Jardin Tropical would do well to take a leaf out of their book. Food!! Was EXCELLENT! Breakfasts were great. There was a bit of a problem queuing for coffee or hot water but other than that there was always a good variety of fruit, fried eggs, pancakes etc., even bubbly if you can take it at 08.30am!! At dinner; I do not eat meat BUT there was always plenty of excellently cooked fish, fruit, salads and for my husband, delicious meat. The chefs are all fantastic BUT, one more gripe;the vegetables were not always cooked and were mostly raw which is a pity and probably hard to get right as they are left under heated lights and could get OVER cooked which would be as bad! Lastly, I must congratulate the Hotel on their very high standard of food hygiene, keeping food under plastic covers while its out being served is essential to avoid contamination. Unfortunately, not all Hotels are as fastidious, so we were very impressed that the food was protected and so clean. A big plus that other Hoteks should adopt.

We were under the impression from our travel agent that this was a 5 star hotel. It was a 4 star and did not come up to our expectations. It was very welcoming and clean in most area`s,but the room and bathroom were not as nice as shown. The bathroom especially, was very much in need of updating and not easy to use the bath as the shower screen was fixed, making it difficult to reach taps. The staff were good,as was most of the food. However, alot of the breakfast was luke warm,so not good. The outside was very nice, plenty of comfy seating with nice views. Unfortunately we booked a sea view room which was blocked by a large pillar almost in the middle of the balcony,so obstructing the view. We had paid extra for a view,so disappointed. Would not go there again.

Stayed here for a week in April on a girlie week with my sister. . Excellent pool area especially the seawater pool area at the sea front. Worth booking very comfortable circular beds there. Staff all very friendly and happy to help. Room was fine. We had a sea view which was great. Hotel has several seating areas with great sea views. Nice area to sit out late on with generous night cap measures! Breakfast well organised and a brilliant selection. Loved Alberto on the crepe station. Would say the hotel not best for children as no shallow pool.

We had a seven night stay at the Jardin Tropical from 18th Apr 2015 and enjoyed our stay. Being a party of three adults ,one person had to pay the high price for single occupancy. As many others have pointed out, room allocation can prove problematic owing to the lay out of the hotel. The room allocated to our single travellor had no balcony(only windows) _despite 'balcony' mentioned in her Thomsons booking correspondence. However,Mercedes, the customer relations manager, could not have been more helpfull and eventually a room with small balcony was provided. Our balcony,(room 860)a large closed in area with a small opening some 4ft from the ground at one end and another small exposed area at the other, was disapointing but having read reviews and noting how full the hotel was we decided to avoid any hastle. This issue is the only fault we had with the hotel. Food good, staff excellent, amenities and ambience all very good. Extra touches like beds and relaxation areas give this hotel a rather special feel. Low key entertainment is what we prefer and so our evenings spent in the hotel suited us well. We would definately return to this hotel but be a bit more carefull in room booking. We feel Tour operators should point out that some rooms have only windows and perhaps discount those rooms. A tip if your room allocation does not meet your expectation: The hotels 'customer relations team' are very good and attentive.Their desk is easily located at the end of the reception area...Adressing your issue with them in the first instance may avoid delays or hastle. Do not let this put you off folks.
