Just back from a fantastic holiday with husband and our two boys age 5 and 7 the hotel was great and our boys spent the week in the pool and in the football area. The main reason for the review was...
Just returned from 11 nights in this great hotel. General - lovely hotel with a great ambiance.pools fab but cold and sunbed were never hard to find. Padded cushions would be a super addition. All bars and restaurants are clean and staff are attentive and helpful. Great location with most rooms having a sea view. The rooms were spacious with a huge bed and bed settee which my two children slept on (5 and 8 .) maid service daily which was thorough. Only downside was that there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the water is not replenished in the mini bar fridge. Food is varied and good quality. Fresher than other all inc I have visited. Chinese rest was good and the smaller sizes rest was nice for a change from the big dinning room. Entertainment - the team were AMAZING the superman chief lead the whole team brilliantly and Sonita ,Simone , Juan, Adrian were just fabulous. Genuine and there manner was great not pushy but encouraging to kids and adults. Shows were good and the whole team work tirelessly to ensure you enjoy your holiday. The mini disco is in a better location in the downstairs disco am improvement would be some variation in the music. Mini club was a fabulous facility and my daughter felt confident enough to go on her own , my issue was there needed to be some major improvements made to bring the building up to standard. It was scruffy and dirty. It was unfair on the team as they really looked after the kids and tried hard with little equipment. To summarise we had a great time and would return for a 3 rd visit tomorrow.
Stayed 11 nights in May 2015. Pros: - amazing staff - especially in restaurant and in bar canaria; - good choice of all inclusive drinks comparing to other hotels; - one of the best...
Just returned from a week at the Sandos Papagayo Beach Resort (21st-28th May 15), Party of 6 ranging in age from 74 to 9 !. Good hotel, very clean. We had ungraded to a Royal Elite junior suite (my parents had a double royal elite room) which was a godsend with two 9 year old boys as it gave us much more space. Have read a number of reviews before we travelled saying that the upgrade to Royal Elite wasn't worth the money but to be honest we felt that the extra money spent was well worth it to dine and relax in the separate breakfast room in a morning (the main restaurant was very busy in a morning) and also the royal elite bar and terrance was a nice touch (we only used the family bar as having children with us and therefore unable to comment on the adults only royal elite bar) - if you can afford it I would say go for it. The hotel it's self is very clean and well kept, rooms are well kept and the maids do a fab job - loads of sunbeds and people are great at abiding with the 'no reserving' beds which meant no more getting up early to get 6 beds together! Location - you are an approx a 40/50 mins walk to Playa Blanca however a taxi is only 4 euro and in the day the hotel runs a free bus to Playa Dora/Playa Blanca - if you are expecting a load of facilities outside your door this is not the hotel for you. The Marina at Playa Dora/Playa Blanca is a really nice area to visit - we had dinner at Lani's on the marina and it was excellent, staff so helpful. I would have given this hotel 5 out of 5 if it wasn't for the pools and a la carte restaurants - unfortunately the pools are not heated and although we went at the end of May they were freezing - both my boys would jump in and come out a few mins later shivering! I appreciate that in the height of summer the pools may be warm enough I dont think it would be too much to ask for at least one of the pools to be heated - there was also a number of cracked tiles around the pool areas - that said they were very clean. The a la carte on site restaurants were not great, a nice change but don't think it would take much for the hotel to make these a real plus for the hotel. Would I go back - yes Would i recommend - yes
A superb hotel close to Playa Blanca. Excellent buffet-style food thoughtfully labelled to identify selections suitable for vegetarian and gluten-free preferences. Spa facilities include the usual...
I stayed here with my husband in the last week of April 2015. We had upgraded to Royal Elite and were glad that we had! We were given a newly refurbished room that was overlooking the beach and was close to the bars and restaurants. The RE breakfast room was a lovely touch. Small and personal with enough choice for anyone and attentive service. The main restaurant had loads of choice with fresh fish and meat being cooked and carved in front of you. Salads were readily available along with a cheese table that always had something different to choose each day. The snack bar was open 24 hours a day with burgers, salads and a variety of sandwiches. There were also soft drinks and beer on tap to help yourself. The french restaurant was the only pay-for restaurant and it was well worth it. Prices were really reasonable and you were made to feel really special! The RE lounges and the rooftop sun terrace were just what was needed to escape the crowds and relax totally. The bars were help yourself with all international drinks and beers being topped up as soon as they were needed. A nice touch was that they even put some glasses in the fridges to get super chilled drinks if required. The snacks were great too!! The 3 swimming pools were clean, with plenty of sun terraces around the pools and around the complex all with sun loungers so you could move to quieter areas if you wanted. We stayed near to the middle pool which had the entertainment and games for the children. It was also heated which was another big draw for us. The only disappointment was the evening entertainment which started at 10.00pm a bit late for us. The majority of the clientelle were English but the only show were stayed to watch was in Spanish. Overall we loved this break and we will definitely be going back here!!
This hotel was fantastic, what an amazing holiday my fiancé and I had here. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the hotel its self was really clean, there was plenty of things to do and evening...
We chose the Sandos Papagayo, Playa Blanca as a result of the many good reports on TripAdvisor. The weather was wonderful throughout our holiday and Playa Blanca is a nice area particularly around the marina and beautiful clean sandy beaches. However the hotel was very disappointing and certainly fell well short of the rave reviews that we had read! On arrival we were surprised to find such a huge ugly building unlike the cleverly crafted photos in the brochure - checking into the hotel was a lengthy saga mainly due to the large number of incoming guests and some very busy (and fraught) receptionists. Having paid for an upgraded room, we were not at all impressed by our allocated room in A block - it was shabby, with tired furniture, mould in the bathroom, and with very basic facilities, and It fell far short of the 4 star hotel rooms that we have enjoyed in Europe. The next room that we were offered was no better and included a rusty bath and we were left with the clear impression that refurbishment was long overdue. The receptionist kindly suggested that we should consider upgrading to "Royal Elite" and several hundred euros lighter, we were allocated a clean and wholesome room in C block which had been recently refurbished. The sea view from our balcony revealed an unappealing and fairly rocky foreshore covered in "rock graffiti " where previous guests had signed their names or left messages. A pity as there were beautiful clean sandy beaches on both sides of the hotel in Playa Blanca and Papagayo. Although it is a huge hotel and a multi-story, multi-block warren of rooms, it has clearly been optimised to cope with the large number of guests and there were always plenty of sun beds and swimming pools to make the most of the weather. The quality and variety of the food was very good but the self service buffet style restaurants brought back memories of the functional arrangement at school or feeding time at the zoo. There are some very nice Tapas restaurants around the marina which were a pleasant alternative to the All Inclusive bunfight. Overall we enjoyed our holiday in Lanzarote and we would like to return but it will not be to the Sandos Papagayo which did not meet the standards of service and luxury which we have come to expect in 4 star hotels in Europe.
Cheap Playa Blanca holidays are more or less a fixture for tourists the whole year round, thanks in no small part to the consistently warm Lanzarote temperatures - consistently hot, that is! Hot it may be, averaging around 18° Celsius in December and 26° Celsius by the summer, but sultry breezes, courtesy of the trade winds, mean you’re never flustered. Having said that, ensure you have your sun cream on at all times to protect you from the sun's rays.
