Positiv: location, friendly staff, good and varied food (except the snacks at the pool bar, had all inclusive), pool. Easy to take the bus to Palma. Negativ: the rooms are quite small, the bed a little to hard for me. Overall: had all inclusive and had a really good stay here.

I have stayed at the Blue Bay six times now during various trips to Palma and will continue to use this fantastic wee hotel as my base when I visit Majorca. Firstly, let me just clarify, this is not a luxury hotel (the price alone should signify that!) so those seeking 5* luxury resorts should probably look elsewhere! That said, I have stayed in several 5* resorts over the years and have found the service from the staff at the Blue Bay to be equal to,if not better than, the service received at many of those! So... the basics... the location - yes, it is on a hill. From the front of the hotel, there is a less steep incline down to the main road which takes a few minutes to walk up and down with minimal exertion, be warned though, there is very little/no pavement so you need to be aware of the traffic approaching and stand to the side accordingly! If you're fitter (or braver) you can take the route at the back of the hotel which is certainly faster but definitely a much steeper incline (not so bad on the way down - definitely less fun on the way up again!!) There are also stairs outside the hotel which will take you down to the main road - again, there are a LOT of them due to the steep incline so perhaps not for those fitness levels are perhaps a bit lacking! The hotel is minutes walk away from many little shops, boutiques, bars, cafes, restaurants etc etc. It really is a lovely little area and there should be something there for everyone. That said, it is also walking distance (or a short taxi or bus ride) to Passeo Maritimo (marina), Porto Pi (large shopping centre) and the centre of Palma itself - the Blue Bay really is an ideal base for any trip to Palma. The staff & service - as I said I've stayed at the Blue Bay numerous times now and the staff seem to be very loyal as I've seen a lot of the same faces time and time again. I've honestly never had a problem with ANY of the staff, from the cleaning staff, to the maintenance guys, to the reception, to the guys on the bar and the restaurant staff (especially Carmen who is just lovely) each and every member of the team have been friendly and helpful at every turn. I have seen a few comments about people being treated differently if they were AI but I can honestly say I've never found this to be the case. In fact, the bar guys have always gone out of their way to assist, even opening a bottle of wine for me one night that was purchased outside the hotel so I could enjoy it in my room! The rooms and hotel in general - Yes, the hotel is basic and a little dated... but it does what it says on the tin! The rooms are on the small side but they have always been adequate for my needs and the views from the balconies are absolutely spectacular. They also have air conditioning despite being a little dated. I would recommend perhaps taking a multi plug extension with you if you require several things to be powered at once e.g. phone charger, hairdryer etc, as many of the rooms have only 1 socket so it can be difficult if you have several electrical items needing power. The beds were comfortable enough and sheets were changed regularly. The maid service was very good and the room was always spotless with clean towels etc provided. Even on the days when I had a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door in the morning and subsequently went out much later in the day, the room was always cleaned for me coming back. The hotel is spotless but basic, evening entertainment wasn't really my cup of tea but then I don't go to Palma to sit and watch entertainment in a hotel so am generally out most of the time! Get yourselves out and explore the local bars as they really are something special. The pool area is very clean and relatively quiet, which suits me down to the ground. I've never had any problems getting a sun bed etc on any of my visits and have always found the pool area to be relaxing and pleasant as its intended to be! The food - I always found the meals to be of high quality. The buffet isn't huge but there is ample selection and the salad bar is really gorgeous. I stayed here for three weeks on one of my visits and still found something different to eat most days so I definitely wouldn't have any complaints about the food! All in all, I would highly recommend the Blue Bay - it's a wee treasure and a great base for exploring Palma. I have stayed here many times and will continue to choose the Blue Bay over many higher rate/more expensive hotels in the future. I look forward to my next visit!

Where to begin... Unfortunately, we had booked a family holiday to Tunisia, but recent events forced my family and I to re-book a holiday on the same dates as originally planned to an alternative destination. After the stress of refunds and frantically researching other holidays, we ended up here... We arrived at Blue Bay, tired and hungry, at 9.02pm local time to be greeted by the receptionist. After successfully checking us into the hotel, we asked the receptionist for directions to the restaurant to enable us to eat our meal (which had been pre-paid for). His response was rude and abrupt, as he proceeded to inform us that dinner finished at 9.00pm. We kindly asked if there would be anything left for us, as it was only 2 minutes after the closing time. However, the receptionist continued in his rude manner by again stating 'No'; a lovely welcome to the hotel, and indeed Spain. After accepting that we would not be eating anything, we made our way to the bar to be greeted the bar manager. After saying hello, my family and I asked for 3 San Miguel's with Lime Cordial, and one cola drink. The bar manager then proceeded to inform us that there is no lime cordial available due to the 'British people drinking too much- Greedy'. We all looked at each other in disbelief that we had been insulted within the first 5 minutes of arriving at Blue Bay. Drinks were served in a small 250ml plastic cup. This proved to be absolutely painful when collecting drinks for my family and I, as two sips and the contents are gone. Don't expect to experience a "pint" here, as it doesn't exist - a rule which just means the guests have to keep walking up and down to gain additional drinks because they are not served in glasses big enough. Also, those who pay for their drinks on an ad-hoc basis (not all inclusive), get served their drinks in actual glasses. I urge the hotel to amend this rule! The hotel itself is horrendously out of date with run down surroundings. The lifts are like stepping back in time, taking around 5 minutes to arrive at your desired floor, enough room for 2 people and a rickety chain holding the platform in place. I had nightmares throughout the week of being stuck in the lift in the sweltering heat, so opted to take the stairs on a number of occasions. After night 1, my family and I stopped by at reception. We kindly asked the receptionist if it would be at all possible to gain an additional pillow each (as the one pillow we had was very thin). However, the receptionist informed us that he will not be looking for additional pillows and that we must wait for housekeeping. The "entertainment" was a not good. On the first night, I had the unfortunate experience of watching two women dance on the stage and bang wooden sticks together to music. The second evening involved "Bingo", which cost more money to enter than the value of the prize - a bottle of Rose. The food was lovely, absolutely no complaints whatsoever. There was plenty of choice, a fantastic selection of salad, and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and attentive. The pool is small, but was clean and very quiet to relax throughout the day. We also took a trip to the beach, which is stunning and only a 4 Euro's taxi ride away. The hotel also put on a complimentary shuttle bus service at 10.30am, which was great. The rooms are very clean, but I was a little surprised to realise that there was only one plug socket and no hair dryer. The view from our room (level 8) was stunning and was a beautiful sight to wake up to each morning. We ventured out one night to "Palma Nova". It consists of British teenagers drinking out of fishbowls and rowdy stag do's. You can't walk down the street without being approached by English reps asking you to come into their bar for a "bevvy". Overall, the only reason I enjoyed this holiday was because I was with my family members and there was sunshine on a daily basis.Other than that, I suggest booking somewhere which has moved with the times with more friendly staff members.

Another good week holiday in this hotel. Good quality for small price. Same as last year hotel clean and tidy, food was good although gets boring after few days. Staff was lovely and helpful as always (especially lovely ladies in the dining they help you with anything you want, recognised me form last year and on last day brought basket of fruits and bottle of wine to the room for me and boyfriend and said big thank you for being a nice guest). The only complaints we had were: beds very uncomfortable and made a lot of noise (they gave us new bed frame when we complained) also would be nice to have double bed not two single beds joined together, they kept separating and that was annoying; only one socket in the room and very old tv. Other than that everything was great. There was always space at the pool and mini van taking us to the beach was helpful. Thank you everyone at Blue Bay for making another holiday special. Will be back again.
