Why Mauritius?
One word: paradise. Lovingly dubbed The Star of the Indian Ocean, Mauritius has been attracting visitors for many years with its crystal clear waters, tranquil mountains, botanical gardens and year-round high temperatures. It’s a hotspot for us beach lovers, so whether you’re looking for a romantic island retreat or a break with the family, Mauritius is the perfect place for some vitamin sea.
What are the beaches like in Mauritius?
Imagine the perfect beach. Got stunning blue skies and shimmery shores in mind? That’s exactly what the sun, sea and sand are like in Mauritius. Plage de Trou aux Biches is always a contender for the best beach in the world. The combination of pristine sand and calm, warm water is the ideal backdrop to a beach holiday. Safely swimming a short way out with a snorkel is so worth it here – there are coral reefs and colourful fish to discover wherever you look! Prefer to live the boat life? Hop aboard and sail away on a dolphin or turtle-spotting cruise for an experience you’ll never forget.
Flic En Flic is another classic Mauritius beach; by which we mean it’s idyllic in every sense of the word. The bars and restaurants that line the bay mean this is a great place to spend a lazy beach day, while the shallow, warm waters are great for toddler-friendly holidays. Fancy 10km of untouched beachy beauty? Head to Belle Mare in the east of the main island. This popular place offers 10km of white sand and is a great spot to relax and soak up the Mauritian vistas over the Indian Ocean.
