Caleta was perfect for us - Mum with kids aged 9 & 11. The resort is a 15 min cab ride from the airport. We used the beach which had decent sand, safe bay for swimming and lots of fish. Some of it is a little rocky when the tide is out. The 9 yr old was reassured by the rope which went across the bay, as he couldn't get swept out to sea! Windsurfers and boats were kept out of our swimming area. A short walk around the peninsula took us to a better beach area, with several coves of sandy beach, protected by rock walls, making the water lovely to swim in. We hired a pedalo, which was great fun. We got a courtesy bus from our complex if we didn't fancy the walk and the bus drivers were great about letting us store our inflatable crocodile under the bus! There's a reasonable shopping centre here. Caleta has stacks of restaurants, bars and shops plus a good Saturday market. There was a bungee jump rig on a trampoline in the town centre which was fun plus there is a small swing park.

Useful Tips:

Saturday market is worth a visit. Lots of great offers from the restuarants - huge choice of cuisines.

The hotel was very nice, with excellent facilities. the room was great. We had a suite with a converting sofa bed for the kids and a seperate room for me and my wife. very nice balcony as well. good children facility if you can persuade the staff to accept english kids, mostly for the french. Evening events for children. Food was good if you are not vegetarian. Beach was some way from the hotel, but there is a regular shuttle bus to it. Beach was nice if a bit windy, can get sand blasted which was uncomfortable and the tide can come in quite quickly.

Useful Tips:

There are zoos and water parks there the beaches are nice as long as it is not too windy

Ideally situated with all you could need on your doorstep. Something in every direction that you went, and something for everyone. Great, can't wait to go again.

Useful Tips:

A most enjoyable holiday, and just take things as they come. Best way, I think.

the south of furtuventura is the perfect place if you are looking for the benefits of a caribbean island! (for a cheaper price).. the reason I say caribbean is because the white sand is glistening, the sea is like crystal, turquise green and blue uhh! the perfect place to relax and read a book or just watch the children play water sports.. as for a family holiday I would say a big yes, lots of activities to do and the restaurants are very welcomming... I am certainly comming back in 2010 for fun and relaxation....

Useful Tips:

I would just say (make sure and apply suncream)...

We have visited Fuerteventura 6 times over the past 7 years. It really is a wonderful place for families and couples alike. we always stay in Caleta De Fuste, as its near to the airport (15 mins transfer), the beach is safe for children and very wide with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. There are numerous restaraunts and bars, and also there is great shopping. The weather always seems to be good wether we visit in October, April or May June time. It is clean, well looked after and has a wonderful "upmarket" feel about it. We have stayed in various hotels which have all been very good (San Jorge, Barcelo club el castillo). But the best by far is the Barcelo Thalasso Spa. Beautiful hotel, good rooms, good food, all inclusive superb. A great way to see the island is by hiring a car, there are some must see's. The beach/sand dunes outside Coralejo are spectacular. As are the lagoons. And other resorts Costa Calma and Jandia are beautiful too. Fuerteventura "rocks"!!

Useful Tips:

With the euro being so weak, drinks, food seem very expensive. All inclusive deals take away the worry of over spending.
