Read more about Costa Calma

Costa Calma is a tranquil seaside resort, located towards the south of Fuerteventura. Smaller than the island’s more well-known tourist centres of Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste, the Calm Coast is perfect for a relaxing holiday. In the area, you will find great spots for sunbathing and windsurfing, as well as plenty of hotels, shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Costa Calma is a great snapshot of what’s on offer on this Canary Island - sunny weather, sandy beaches and stunning landscape.

Beaches
Playa Costa Calma is the long stretch of sandy beach that fringes this resort town. Here you will discover sun loungers and parasols for hire, as well as a surf school and a beach bar with breath-taking views. There’s something for every holidaymaker on this beach; Fuerteventura’s famous windy weather is perfect for watersports, while the beach’s greenery provides natural windbreaks that shelter sun worshippers.

Food & Drink
Dining venues in Costa Calma offer Mediterranean menus, brimming with seafood, salads and pasta dishes. Tapas restaurants and pizza parlours are also the order of the day. To quench your thirst like a local, try a Canarian coffee made with condensed milk and a splash of liquor. For somewhere special, we recommend making a reservation at Villa del Mare. This upscale restaurant has a terrace with sweeping vistas over the rooftops and beach of Costa Calma – the perfect backdrop for lunch with a view or a romantic meal as the sun sets.

Culture
Costa Calma was originally built around a small village called Canada del Rio. The first hotel was built here in the 1970s, and the resort has grown in popularity since then. As a traditional Spanish island, Fuerteventura enjoys a bustling calendar of cultural events and celebrations. Costa Calma's Sunday market is a hugely attractive spectacle, with enough crafts and foods to keep you browsing all day.

Nightlife
The Canary Islands enjoy a reputation of having great nightlife for young people, but Fuerteventura is a bit of an exception to this, as its towns are on the whole very traditional and quiet. In this respect it is much more family-orientated. Low-key nights out can still be had, however, in the bars and restaurants of Costa Calma. These venues are hospitable, friendly and provide exceptional meals and drinks.
