World’s first ‘pay as you weigh’ airline

Airlines are forever looking at new ways to make money, as we know, and Samoa Air has come up with a rather bizarre way of charging more money to passengers. They are planning to calculate the cost of a ticket based on both the weight of passengers and their baggage!

Passengers choosing to fly with the airline will pay a fixed price per kilogram, which varies according to the duration of the flight.

The airlines’ Chief Executive insists this new way of pricing is the “fairest method”.

We’re not sure if this new pricing system would ever be introduced by European airlines but there are one or two low cost airlines that could be weighing up their options as we speak!
