When asked the question, “who’s better at packing, men or women?” Most people’s immediate answer would of course be women. We’re organised, neat and brilliant folders… right? But according to a recent survey, women are far worse than men at packing sensibly with 53% confessing to going over their baggage allowance in the past five years.
Where men will recycle holiday wardrobes; to women, not having a different outfit (or even a choice of outfits) for each night on holiday is unthinkable! In fact, 91% of women surveyed admitted that they wear less than half of the clothes they take with them, whereas men wear 90%.
On average, men will pack 18 items of clothing for one week away, while women take 36 – including 6-8 pairs of shoes! Findings from the men surveyed even revealed that their other halves often use their suitcase for extra items that don’t fit in their own (these unnecessary items being one of the main causes of pre-trip bust-ups!).
Despite this, it would seem that women are in charge when it comes to packing, with 42% of men in a relationship letting their partner pack for them and decide what is taken away. Only a tiny 5% of women said they would be happy to let their other half sort out the luggage for their holiday.
Are you the packer in your family, or do you leave it up to your other half?
