We love flicking through magazines to see where the stars live or copy their stylish outfits, but what about celebs’ favourite holiday spots? From the Beckhams to Catherine Zeta Jones, we’ve found four sunny holiday destinations that are loved by celebs and don’t have to cost the earth!
Which celebrity holiday suits you?
I like… somewhere with plenty to do, set against quaint cobbled villages, quiet sandy coves… and being treated like a Queen.
You’re… the Beckhams on The Algarve. Though to be fair it’s also a favourite of Jose Mourinho, Sir Cliff Richard and Rochelle and Marvin Humes, so take your pick.
The Beckhams are said to be big fans of Quinta De Lago Resort and the Rio Formosa National Park – a popular destination for bird watching but also great for a family day out! It covers 50km of coastline from Tavira to Ancao and is brimming with sand dunes, lagoons and canals to explore. Dads might also like to spend some time on one of the many golf courses dotted up and down the coastline.
Despite its popularity, the Algarve has managed to hold onto its traditional roots, so you’ll find plenty of white-washed walls, greenery and character below the bright blue skies. If you need some time to relax, this is a great place to do it. There is some nightlife, but the harbours are the best places to be for a bustling atmosphere at sunset.
I like… staying on a beautiful island famed for its soft sand beaches, charming fishing villages and warm temperatures, never far away from stylish bars and cafes.
You’re… Catherine Zeta Jones on the Greek island of Mykonos
Catherine and family have spent time cruising off-shore in Mykonos, heading inland to sample local food overlooking the beach.
This sounds pretty perfect to us, especially as there are so many beaches to try along the coastline, from sheltered family-friendly bays to nudist and party areas. But you can do much more too, like taking a pedalo out to sea for a blast of fresh air or spending an afternoon paragliding above the island. Fancy a real celebrity experience? Rent a skippered yacht and set off on a relaxing cruise to nearby islands like Santorini and Syros.
Those who didn’t pack their sea legs can take a day trip to the island of Delos, Little Venice or the monastery at Ano Mera to see even more of the beautiful landscape and history.
I like… an extravagant city packed with things to do and culture to explore, topped off with lots of glamorous nights out.
You’re… Claudia Schiffer in Dubai
Claudia has revealed that her favourite holiday spot for nights out is Dubai. Start your evening with a trip to the top of the Burj Kalifah in Downtown Dubai, taking in the spectacular views of the city, before heading to one of the surrounding restaurants. Book one around the huge water fountains for a really atmospheric experience.
You’ll find most bars and clubs within the huge hotels in Dubai – but it won’t be your average hotel bar. You’re in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, so expect extravagance and luxury.. and enjoy it! We think it’s a great excuse to look round some of the top hotels in Dubai like the Atlantis.
Don’t forget to pick up a copy of Time Out Dubai for a full list of night time attractions and offers.
I like… somewhere small where we can get to know the locals and chill out somewhere totally different to home.
You’re… Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell on Skiathos
Skiathos is a beautiful tiny island in Greece, just eight miles by three. It’s been popular with the rich and famous for years – The Beatles even tried to buy one of its neighbouring islands – and you’ll usually catch sight of an expensive yacht or two bobbing off the shore.
With its own airport you won’t have to wait long between landing and settling into your hotel in Skiathos. You’ll find some bars and a lively nightlife here, but it’s generally relaxed with a slightly older crowd. Inland, the island is equally scenic, with churches, monasteries, olive groves and wild herbs. Explore on foot to really appreciate the sights and sounds of this tiny holiday haven.
