Beach holidays make you happy. It’s a matter of science. Have you ever sat on a sunny beach and felt miserable? We’re guessing probably not…
The best places to go on holiday, according to us, are obviously those with a jolly good beach… But just in case you need a little more evidence, we’ve looked to plain facts, science and logic to show off just how great our favourite holiday destinations are.
Go to Tenerife – Because the odds of sunshine are really high
With some 300 days of sunshine, the odds of a sunny holiday are very much on your side. That’s 80% chance that you’ll be able to get a tan! That sounds like pretty good odds to me. As if we Brits needed another reason to choose Tenerife, eh!
Go to Ibiza – Because music is good for the brain
Music is paramount in Ibiza, with the many DJs pumping out our favourite tunes and live bands rocking it out at Ibiza rocks. But do you know why we love music and dancing so much?
So many studies have looked into this, and it’s pretty much agreed that music is good for the brain. When notes and sounds are rhythmically arranged, the brain sends dopamine to the autonomic nervous system causing us to feel pleasing emotions.
Go to Malta – Because even our ancestors sunned themselves there
Malta is home to some of the oldest man-made structures in history. The Megalithic Temples are estimated to be around 5000 years old… that’s older than the pyramids in Egypt! Okay, so we don’t really have proof that ‘holidays’ were even a thing back then… But they clearly decided it was a great place to stay.
Go to Croatia – Because it has a beach that changes shape and colour
So here’s our favourite scientific fact… Croatia is home to a wonder of nature: Zlatni Rat beach. Located on Brač Island in the southern region of Croatia, the beach’s colour and shape varies according to the direction of the wind. Regularly named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, “Golden Cape” as it is often called, is scientifically magical beach.
So by science, logic and fact-sharing, we hope you’ve learned something new about some of our favourite destinations – maybe you already know where to go on holiday next year!
