You’re almost there, the stressful airport dash is over and all that’s left now is to sit back and relax while you’re taken to sunnier shores – easier said than done. Sometimes plane journeys can be just as stressful as the airport, especially if you’re a nervous flyer. So we’ve collected a few handy hints to help make your journey a little easier…
It’s always beneficial to get some sleep during a flight no matter what time of day it is; airports can be stressful and tiring so a couple of hours sleep can leave you refreshed on the other side. Although planes aren’t the most relaxing of situations, things like eye masks and cushioned neck supports are a great way to help you feel more comfortable.
If you’re travelling with children, it can make flying a little more difficult. Ears popping, restlessness and boredom all contribute to a less than happy child so make sure you’ve thought of ways to appease them during the flight. This could be bringing their favourite toy in your hand luggage, or thinking of games to distract them for the duration.
The air in the cabin isn’t humidified so it’s important to stay hydrated during your flight so make sure you drink plenty of water. Although you can’t bring liquids through security with you, you are able to buy drinks in the waiting lounge and this, rather than buying on the plane, may save you a few pennies.
While liquids aren’t allowed, it’s often a good idea to bring healthy snacks from home with you on the plane as this will save you a lot of money on airport food.
Everyone’s been the victim of armrest hogging and it can be a real annoyance on an already uncomfortable experience. Try not to resort to passive aggressive nudges (we’ve all done it), simply ask politely.
So follow these tips and have an enjoyable flight on your next On the Beach holiday!
