Although it’s all worth it when you arrive at your destination, preparing for your flight and ensuring everything runs smoothly, can leave you a little stressed. To help put your mind at ease, we’ve put together a ‘check list’ of things for you to think about before your holiday begins…
Double check whether your airline require you to provide additional passenger information (API) and print off your own boarding passes before your flight- they may charge you to do this at the airport.
Make sure you’re prepared well in advance of having to leave your house. If you’re on a morning flight, then pack your passport and booking paperwork into your hand luggage the night before so there’s no danger of forgetting anything.
Familiarise yourself with the regulations on what you can take through security and make sure you have nothing in your hand luggage that may delay the check-in process.
Always check the status of your flight before you leave the house to ensure that there have been no delays. This information can usually be found on the airline’s website or often on their respective social media sites.
If you’re driving to the airport, make sure you have accounted for how time of day will affect travel time, and ensure you have all the details of your airport parking on hand.
If you’re travelling by taxi or public transport, make sure this is arranged prior to departure date and enough time is given to get to the airport.
Most airlines will advise that you get there at least two hours before your flight (it’s always worth checking this), as you need to allow time to check-in your baggage and get through security. Although this sounds like a lot of time, sometimes queuing in peak season can postpone your procedure to the boarding gate. It’s also worth arriving early if your airline does not offer allocated seating to ensure you and your party receive seats together.
So follow these tips and be well prepared on your next On the Beach holiday!
