What a footballer’s wage could get you in holiday terms

With the Premier League season upon us once again and Neymar’s record transfer fee of €222 million from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain, we thought it would be fun to see just how many holidays a footballer’s salary could get you (you might need to sit down for this…)

Neymar (PSG)
Salary – £49,000,000

Weekly: £942,307
Daily: £134,246
Hourly: £5,609

Neymar recently moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain in a record €222 million transfer, meaning he’ll be earning over £900k per week.

With just one hour of Neymar’s wage, he could enjoy a 14 night stay in a double room with sea view at the 5* Sandos San Blas Nature Resort & Golf in Tenerife on an all inclusive basis for 2 people. This price would also cover a private transfer to and from the airport and 2 suitcases. Coming in at £4,457 in August, Neymar would also have around £500 left over for trips to Siam Park and Mount Teide…

Ibrahimović (Manchester United)
Salary – £24,608,895

Weekly – £473,248
Daily – £67,606
Hourly – £2,816

With an hourly wage of almost £3k, we’re surprised Ibrahimović doesn’t enjoy a beach holiday more often.

We’ve worked out that for just under his hourly wage, he could spend 10 nights at the 5* King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort Cyprus in May. This all-inclusive deal also includes a room with a sea view. If we include a private transfer from the airport and 2 lots of baggage, the United player would still have enough to go on a jeep tour up the Troodos Mountains. Lucky him.

Agüero (Manchester City)
Salary – £17,380,032

Weekly: £334,231
Daily: £47,747
Hourly: £1,989

With regular flights from Manchester Airport, we reckon the City players all have a holiday lined up this autumn…

Agüero could enjoy a 7 night stay at the 4* adult-only Iberostar Jardin del Sol Suites in Majorca for less than his hourly wage. Staying on an all-inclusive basis this October, the £1,954 deal is based on 2 adults sharing a double room – a great steal for less than an hour’s work. With an extra £50 left over, Agüero could even splash out on a trip to Jungle Parc, a 9 hectare adventure park set among beautiful pine forest.

Sturridge (Liverpool)
Salary – £6,240,000

Weekly: £120,000
Daily: £17,142
Hourly: £714.25

Playing football can be extremely tiring so we wouldn’t be surprised if Daniel Sturridge had his eye on a short break this winter.

For a grand total of £654, the Liverpool player and a friend could spend 4 nights at the 5* H10 Rubicon Palace on a B&B basis in December. The cost also covers transfers from the airport and means that there’ll even be spending money left over from just one hour’s wage.
