The best beaches for catching some winter sun

We don’t know about you, but our minds always seem to wander to which beach we can visit next. Whether we’re looking for our next adventure in Spain or want to visit the most gorgeous shore in Greece, the possibilities are endless when it comes to sun, sea and sand around the globe. With the year coming to an end and the temperature dropping across the UK, our imagination is drifting further and further away to where the sun shines brightly this time of year. If you’re thinking the same, then take a look at these best beaches for catching some winter sun.

Freedom Beach, Phuket

Phuket offers the culture, landscape and nightlife that you’d want from a getaway to beautiful Thailand. On the west coast of the island lies 300m of stunning white sand surrounded by lush greenery – giving the perfect desert island feel. Freedom Beach is not only a magnificent setting for a relaxing day under the sun, but it is also located close to Patong, the district filled with brilliant restaurants, bars and bouncing nightlife. With average temperatures ranging between 27°C and 29°C all-year-round, it’s a wonderful spot for some winter (or summer) sun!

Akumal Beach, Mexico

Situated just south of Playa del Carmen on the coast of Mexico, Akumal Beach is a little slice of heaven on the Riviera Maya. With average temperatures between 23°C and 25°C in the winter months, you’re sure to have a relaxing day in the warm Mexican sunshine on Akumal Beach. Expect sparkling sands, clear waters and you may even spot a turtle or two on this beautiful beach.

Ffryes Beach, Antigua

Soft white sand meeting the calm Caribbean sea…it’s a scene of serenity. Located on the west coast of the beautiful island of Antigua, Ffryes Beach is a wonderful stretch of shore that is a magical spot for soaking up the sunshine. The picture-perfect destination welcomes blue skies in the winter months too, with average temperatures between 27°C and 25°C from November to February. Sun-worshippers may love Ffryes Beach, but shade-seekers can also enjoy this sandy bay as the stunning greenery offers cover for those who need it.

Playa Paraiso, Cuba

Cuba’s coastline boasts tonnes of beautiful beaches, but one that we think is pretty special is the other-worldly Playa Paraiso. Aptly translating to Paradise Beach, this dazzling shore is located on the Caya Largo del Sur, just south of Cuba’s main island. Warm all-year-round, Cuba is a fantastic pick for a winter escape, especially when their dry season is November to April too! Will all this in mind, all you need to do is see a picture of Playa Paraiso and we’re sure you’ll be on the next flight out there…

Sunset Beach, Dubai

What’s better than a spectacular sunset? Watching it on an amazing beachfront. One of the more peaceful beaches in the bustling city of Dubai, Sunset Beach is a relaxing space with soft sand, soothing waves and a fantastic view of the famous Burj Al Arab. Whether you’re looking to spend a day unwinding under the sun, doing a spot of surfing or simply want a short break between exploring the city centre, this beach is for you. Don’t forget to stay into the evening to watch the glorious sunset too!
