When looking for a tried and tested destination for a family-friendly trip, you need look no further than the beautiful landscape of Tenerife. Thousands of Brits flock to this beautiful Island every year to enjoy a much needed escape with the family.
So what’s all the fuss about?
Typically just 4 hours away from the UK, Tenerife is the largest of the four Canary Islands and boasts a huge range of attractions. Its sandy beaches, cloudless skies and all-year-round sunshine make it one of our most popular holiday destinations year after year.
We’ve taken a look at a few of the top family spots to help you in making your decision…
If you need somewhere to keep the little ones happy, then Costa Adeje is the place for you. See a dolphin show and test out the water slides at the Aqualand, or be a little braver and take on the rapids at Siam Park.
Try Go Karting, Ten-pin bowling, horse riding at La Caldera del Rey, or the indoor Miki Park in the Centro Comercial El Duque shopping centre for the younger kids. Or, if you need to escape the sunshine for a while, there’s even a 7-screen cinema inside the Gran Sur shopping centre which shows plenty of English-language films.
If your kids are slightly older, then Los Cristianos has the best of both worlds. The area is just five minutes from Playa de Las Americas – the liveliest spot on the island, but is far enough away for you to get a little peace and quiet too!
You can spend your days exploring Las Aquilas Wildlife Park and Tenerife Zoo, or even take a trip to Octopus Water Park – ideal if sitting on the beach all day isn’t yours (or your kid’s) thing.
If a bit of sun soaking is your thing though, Playa de los Cristianos is close by and is one the largest, most popular beaches in the area. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around to occupy your evenings, with incredible surrounding views.
We all need some relaxation on holiday, and if this is the most important thing to you, then the quiet area of Puerto de la Cruz may be your perfect escape.
Home to the famous Jardin Beach, which boats picturesque landscapes, dotted with palm trees and surrounded by colourful botanical gardens, Puerto de la Cruz is one of the most charming and elegant resorts in Tenerife.
Although this is the quiet part of the island, there is plenty to keep you occupied, like Loro Park. This combined theme park and zoo is home to a range of animals and sea life, and includes regular shows too!
