Tenerife’s sandy beaches, cloudless skies and all-year-round sunshine make it one of our most popular holiday destinations. It’s on average around four-hours flight time from the UK and, with it being the largest of seven Canary Islands, there’s something for all ages and interests!
Take a look at our quick guide to resorts in Tenerife, and choose the one that’s best for you:
For families – Costa Adeje
If you’re on holiday with excitable children and perhaps in need of plenty of activities to keep them out of mischief, head to Costa Adeje Gran. Here there are plenty of courts to try your hand at tennis, golf or squash, or even step it up a notch and try your hand at local watersports. Windsurfing, anyone?!
After all that activity, you’ve earned some quiet time on the beach, and Playa del Duque is perfect for sitting back and watching the kids playing in the sand.
The nightlife in Costa Adeje is reasonably low key so you can enjoy a peaceful evening drink, or make the most of local restaurants that welcome the younger members of the family!
For those who like the best of both – Los Cristianos
Los Cristianos is just five minutes from Las Americas – the liveliest spot on the island, but is far away enough for you to get a little peace and quiet, too! Spend your days exploring Las Aquilas Wildlife Park and Tenerife Zoo, or even take a trip to Octopus Water Park – ideal if sitting on the beach all day isn’t your thing.
If it is your thing though, Playa de los Cristianos is close by and is one the largest, most popular beaches in the area! There are plenty of bustling bars and restaurants to spend your evenings in the mild evening temperatures, or sit and watch the multi-coloured fisher boats mooring in as the sun goes down.
The 4* Aguamar Apartments are a fantastic base if you are looking to book a holiday to Los Cristianos. Contemporary and smart, they’re great for families and couples. Laze around by the pool and make the most of your holiday.
Looking for some peace and quiet – Puerto de la Cruz
Puerto de la Cruz, in the Orotava Valley, is a quieter part of Tenerife, and home to the famous Jardin Beach. Although this is the quiet part of the island, there is plenty to keep you occupied, like Loro Park. This combined theme park and zoo is home to a range of animals and sea life, and includes regular shows too!
If you’d like a day relaxing in the sun though, Lago Martianez is the place to go, with eight pools to choose from and loads of sunbeds to lie back and daydream! The newly refurbished 5* Bahia Principe San Felipe Hotel is close to Lago Martianez and the centre of Puerto de la Cruz, with a privileged location on the sea front. If you book into this hotel you can enjoy the stunning views of the ocean and Mount Teide!
