Stereotypical ‘Brit abroad’ is no more

A recent survey has revealed that the usual ‘Brit abroad’ stereotype, is dying a death with holiday habits significantly changing over the last 30 years.

The survey shows that fewer and fewer holidaymakers are acting like typical tourists when abroad, with 56% saying they take detours away from tourist trails, compared to just 38% in 1983. More than one in three now say they try to speak the local language and a massive 66% of holidaymakers say that when abroad, they swap their love for familiar UK foods in favour of traditional local delicacies.

It’s interesting to see that we are becoming more and more adventurous abroad, trying new foods and exploring different destinations, rather than just sticking to tourist spots. By heading off the beaten track, we can learn more about the places we visit and may even discover secluded paradises, which are local secrets.
