When Spain take on Turkey, both teams will be aiming for 3 points to secure qualification to the next round of Euro 2016. Both teams will be giving it their all and it got us thinking – which holiday destination is better? Forget the football, the only Spain v Turkey battle you need is here…

The average flight time from London Gatwick to mainland Spain is 2 and a half hours, whereas if you fly London Gatwick to Turkey, you can expect a flight time of 4 and a half hours…

Both destinations are known for their long, sunny days and mild nights but we’ve done a little more digging to see where you can get the better tan…
Malaga reaches an average temperature of 25°C in August with an average of 8.5 hours of sunshine a day while you can expect highs of 24°C in Barcelona in July. However, visiting Spain anytime between April and October promises sunny days and very little rainfall…

Food
One thing we love to do on our beach holidays is sample the local cuisine. Spain is famous for it’s Paella, a dish combining the freshest seafood with rice and bursting with colour and great tastes.
Turkey’s main dish is the kebab, (but nothing like the one you’d get after a night out!) Turkey’s kebab boasts tender cooked lamb, mixed with fresh vegatables and rolled in a soft, chewy bread…

Drink
Raki, an unsweetened, anise-flavoured spirit is the top choice of drink for Turkish locals and is often served with seafood or meze. The drink can be served neat, or with water or ice cubes depending on personal preference…
Can you picture a holiday to Spain without at least one glass of Sangria? Neither can we. The fruity drink is the suitable all day whether you prefer a small glass with lunch, a jug to share with friends as you relax around the pool, or with your evening meal.

Beaches
Spain is home to hundreds of beaches and despite them all being unique in their own way, they all share one thing in common, white sands and calm waters. El Cristo Beach is popular with families while Sant Pol de Mar is perfect for those looking for relaxation…
Turkey also boasts some great beaches and its longest, Patara is a hit with families due to it’s natural feel – there’s only cafe in the surrounding area and it’s clean sand and shallow waters continue to attract tourists.

Entertainment
When you head to Spain on holiday, you’re likely to witness some seriously entertaining Flamenco dancing, complete with castanets clapping hands that you won’t be able to stop yourself moving along to.
In Turkey, you’re likely to find the locals take part in what’s known as ‘whirling Dervishes’, a group known for their more serious, yet still entertaining performances…
