Announced! Ruby Academy places filled 2015

We are excited to say that we have filled the places for our Ruby Academy this year!

Starting on 21st September, this year’s Ruby Academy will follow the same course content as previous years, but with a completely new cohort of aspiring Ruby Developers.(Just in case you missed it, you can read more about what the Ruby Academy is here)

A very high standard of talent…

We were so impressed with the strong mix of wide-ranging talent of this year’s applicants. It was quite a challenge to pick only 6 candidates, so we even made an exception and awarded an extra place, taking on 7 people instead of 6.

This year’s successful applicants come from a variety of backgrounds, including degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing, and Graphics. Some went on to get further experience, such as an internship in Web Development or work experience in Software Development. Their enthusiasm for Ruby is clear, with some devoting their own time to learning Ruby at home, and creating their final project in Rails.

Beginning a career in development at On the Beach

Technical meeting at On the Beach

Everyone here at On the Beach is looking forward to meeting the new trainees and seeing what they bring to our team.

Previous Ruby Academy graduates, such as Joe and Nancy, have noted how much they have learnt and grown working through the Academy and beyond at On the Beach. We can’t wait to see the new members of our team grow and develop with our business.

Missed out this year?

On the Beach’s development team are among the UKs best technology thought-leaders… and the Ruby Academy is a great way in. The Ruby Academy at On the Beach is a 5 week intensive training programme for aspiring web developers looking to progress in a career in Ruby.

Having only a few places available on the Ruby Academy each year, we can’t take on everyone at once. BUT, if you’re still interested in working in development at On the Beach you can keep your eyes peeled on our Jobs page for upcoming opportunities.

If Ruby on Rails is still your dream, take a look at these useful resources, and get cracking on practising for your application next year.

Best of luck!
