Set against a backdrop of pine hills, Marmaris in Turkey provides a perfect beach holiday location for all the right reasons.
The weather is glorious, the locals are accommodating and the surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful. Here’s why we think this place is extra special:
Marmaris resort is all about pleasing holidaymakers. The dream was to create a central point where locals and holidaymakers could meet, spend time with friends and enjoy the splendid weather and scenery.
The endless plant species, grand statues, water features and seating here are topped off with a huge musical fountain nestled in the middle of the square. It’s ideal for a stroll during the day but it really comes to life when the sun sets, with lights, music and beautiful water displays.
Outside of the square, you’ll find a selection of restaurants, cafes, gift shops, bars and water activities just a short walk along the beach front. If you fancy a longer stroll, you can walk all the way from Marmaris Marina to Icmeler – a great way to discover the area.
If it’s beaches you’re after, try the breathtakingly beautiful beach on Cleopatra Island. The sand here is considered so precious and unique that holidaymakers aren’t allowed to take towels onto the beach, through fear of the sand being taken away from the beach. We don’t blame the locals for doing this – walking on the super soft sand is walking like a cloud!
You can reach Cleopatra Island by boat, with prices ranging from about £15 for children to £22 per adult. The price includes a return transfer from the island and a BBQ.
Which brings us nicely on to food! There’s an amazing range of seafood on offer at Marmaris Marina, with fish so fresh you really need to visit. The mussels are out of this world and the view from most restaurants makes your dining experience one to remember. There are other eateries available but if fish is your thing, you have to try it here.
