Resort of the Week: Lloret de Mar (Costa Brava)

Regarded as the party capital of the Costa Brava, Lloret De Mar remains a popular holiday choice. Just a two-hour flight away, the sun shines bright and the Mediterranean sea glistens throughout the summer months on this Spanish coastal resort. However, it’s once the sun sets this place really comes to life!

All your clubbing needs are here; you could find yourself raving to trance music, or jamming along to some reggae. A quick stroll down the road and you’ll be sure to find the club to suit you!

We know getting up the day after the night before can be hard but if these daytime activities don’t tempt you from your hazy dreams we’re not sure what will.

Forget the souvenir shops and head to the high ropes forest adventure for a monkey swinging course. Zip, slide and swing through the forest like a monkey; it’s a real test of physical and mental strength and a good opportunity to separate the men from the boys. Face 35 different obstacles around 40ft above ground from £63 per person; safety equipment, safety instruction and return transfers all included.

Have a need for speed? Want to see more of the beautiful Mediterranean coast? Get a huge adrenaline rush with this activity; banish those hangovers; get the blood pumping with a speed boat trip over the Mediterranean in a twin-engine RIB boat. This involves getting whisked off to a smugglers cave and a secluded, breath-taking cove. Your choice, swim, snorkel of just laze in the sun but whatever you choose make sure you enjoy the natural wonders of the caves close up; from £50 per person.

If it’s a family holiday you’re after you may think LLoret de Mar isn’t for you, but there is so much on offer here it really does cater for everyone. Boasting a wide range of hotels and accommodation with family facilities Lloret de Mar is a great family destination, with plenty of activities to enjoy.

Take a coastal walk, enjoy an open top bus tour of the area, or simply relax on the beach where you will find the handy kids club. A trip to one of the world-class golf courses can also be fun for all but be aware – Dads can get very competitive. Alternatively, enjoy a swim in the Mediterranean or snorkel and see what you can find. Whatever your choice making sure the little’uns are burning all their energy is the main thing, allowing you some quality time in the evening.

Among the flashing lights, disco balls and between the wandering crowds of wobbly people you will find the beauty that is called La Parrilla (17310 Lloret de Mar). This little restaurant makes the most amazing paella and steak dishes in town, the female owner is delightful and she tries her very best to make sure all her guests are happy and well catered for. This restaurant is also a popular choice with the locals and this speaks volumes.

So grab your sun cream and glow sticks/sun screen and arm bands and get down to the Spanish Coast for a fun filled get away.
