The EU will today announce plans to reduce the cost of using mobiles by up to 36% when abroad.
Mobile phone operators are now free to charge cheaper rates, with many beginning to remove premium prices for voice messaging and SMS, while other operators have started to offer free roaming across Europe.
The new rates will mean we can finally use our mobiles to find tourist attractions, check emails and share holiday photos without breaking the bank. The price of making a phone call will drop by 17% per minute, receiving a call will reduce by about 12% a minute and text messages will fall by 11%. Further reductions will come into place next year.
