A survey of more than 1,000 members of the LGBT community has revealed most people would prefer their partner to cover up on holiday with only one in 10 guys choosing speedos for their fellas and only 8% of girls preferring their other half to wear G-Strings.
We conducted a survey revealing that the majority of guys (34%) would prefer their partner to wear swim shorts on the beach whilst 31% of girls would rather see their other half in a more covered up swimming costume.
A modest mankini?
The survey also revealed 27% of guys would choose swim trunks for their partner, however not all are against seeing a bit more skin with a rather worrying 7% saying they would choose a Mankini, made famous by Borat, the alter ego of comedy star Sacha Baron Cohen, whilst 8% would opt for the G-String.
For the girls, more than one in four (22%) would prefer their partners to wear a bikini whilst 12% would be happy to see their other half sporting a more modest Tankini on the beach.
Whilst more than 1 in 10 girls (12%) say they prefer to go topless during their holiday, just 8% say they are happy for their girlfriends to also go topless on the beach.
Preparing that beach body…
The survey also revealed that before jetting off on their holiday, girls spend more time preparing their ‘beach body’ than guys with 12% saying they start their pre-holiday body regime more than three months before heading to warmer climes.
Whilst almost a quarter of girls (24%) start work on their beach body around two months before they head off to the sun, 40% of guys say they don’t work on their beach body at all before getting on the plane.
Alistair Daly, Chief Marketing Officer at On the Beach said:
“This survey shows that most guys and girls prefer their partner to cover up a little on the beach with the majority saying Speedos and G-Strings are a definite no-go. Whilst TV reality shows would have us believe guys spend as much time on their beach bods as girls, our survey suggests otherwise with girls spending much more time preparing for days on the beach”
On the Beach has launched a dedicated area of the site which aims to help the LGBT community find the perfect beach holiday.
