Online half the price of the high street

Following research comparing online and high street holiday prices, we can reveal online prices are up to 65% cheaper than high street travel agents, offering web savvy customers more holiday for their money.

Our research shows it’s holidays to the popular resort of the Algarve that offer the greatest savings, followed by destinations such as Egypt, Cyprus and Greece all averaging savings of 50%.

In order to give holidaymakers the best chance of securing early booking discounts, we’ve introduced a new deposit scheme allowing customers booking their holidays six months in advance to secure their hotel for just £1 per person, in addition to the deposit for their flight. Customers can then pay the remainder of their holiday just 28 days before departing; helping to spread the cost over a period of months.

We say: “Our research is proof that the high street is a long way off beating online agents in terms of price. Our new deposit scheme will no doubt be a welcome relief to those wanting to book their summer holiday early but are still feeling the pinch after Christmas.”

Turkey plans world’s largest airport

As holidays to the beautiful sun destination of Turkey become increasingly popular, the county plans to build the world’s largest airport with a whopping six runways.

The new airport will be developed on 77 million metres2 of land along the Black Sea Coast of Istanbul and have a capacity of 150 million passengers each year, at a cost of $5.6 billion.

At present, Turkey’s busiest airport is Istanbul’s Ataturk International, which welcomed 37 million passengers through its doors last year and sits as the 30th busiest airport worldwide.

The new airport would surpass Ataturk International and the world’s current largest airport Atlanta, which handles more than 90 million passengers a year – Useless pub quiz knowledge of the day!?

We say: “Turkey is a fantastic holiday destination and a popular choice amongst Brits, so this is no doubt welcome news to many holidaymakers. The new and improved airport will result in increased flights to the Black Sea Coast, making it even more accessible for Brits.”

Edinburgh Airport to launch £15 million route fund

Edinburgh Airport is launching a £15 million route fund today (25th January) in order to attract new airlines and routes.

Edinburgh Airport has reached new agreements with lowcost giants, easyJet and Ryanair, a soon to be launched Turkish Airline, Brussels Airlines, Air Canada and Virgin Atlantic. All of which, have announced new and exciting routes, which will take the airport to a record breaking 130 routes on offer this summer.

We say: “This is great news for Scots looking to jet off to sunnier destinations this year and with more airlines battling it out for passengers, it will soon result in lower airfares for many holidaymakers.”

Holidays are the best way to spend your annual leave

A recent survey reveals workaholic Brits are not taking enough of their leave to relax and unwind by the pool in sunnier shores. Instead, most are using the time to complete tasks such as DIY and food shopping, as well as commitments including funerals and medical appointments.

The research also found that almost half of Brits haven’t treated themselves to a holiday in the past year and even more concerning, 5% haven’t been on holiday in more than 10 years.

We say: “We’re very work proud and take great pleasure in doing our job well. However, the stresses in the work environment and of everyday life means we have little down time. Holidays give us the opportunity to spend time with loved ones and ensure we don’t burn ourselves out”.

Survey finds women in charge of holidays

Only 2% of women will let their husband or boyfriend choose the all-important holiday destination, says a recent survey.

The results also found that 40% of travellers’ favourite holidays are spent on the golden shores of a warm beach destination, with 38% admitting to being most tempted to book their beach holiday after waking up to a dark, dreary morning.

We say: “January can be such a rubbish month, waking up on a cold morning and heading to the office, so booking a holiday can often provide an extra, much needed boost. We often see a surge in bookings on Monday afternoons, so it’s clear to see Brits really are feeling the January Blues this year.”
