Famed for hosting some of the best gig nights in Europe, we were lucky enough to attend one of Ibiza Rocks’ shows; headlined by none other than British Rockers, Catfish and the Bottlemen.
In its 10th year, the hotel has played host to some of the biggest artists in the world and this year is no exception. Headliners include; recently reformed, The Libertines; Ibiza Rocks veteran, Fatboy Slim; and 70’s favourites, Spandau Ballet, no less.
With an excited crowd forming from around 9pm, support act, The Bulletproof Bomb took to the stage. “Are you excited for Catfish?” lead singer Joel asked to a chorus of screams – we most certainly were.
With an unapologetic energy, The Bulletproof Bomb showed off their indie-punk roots in a lively performance of rhythmic jolts and jangly, rock guitars. Having only been playing together a year and despite their manic stage presence, the band performed with surprising togetherness and ease.
It was breakthrough indie act, Catfish and the Bottlemen though that really set the crowd alive. Performing on the same stage as world famous acts, the band looked comfortable in their headline slot.
By the time they began their set, the venue was filled with a raucous and enthused crowd, and it became clear why Ibiza Rocks has become such a well-loved institution.
From the people partying stage-side, to those who were enjoying the gig from their stage-view rooms; the atmosphere was amazing.
Catfish and the Bottlemen performed an incredible set led by charismatic front man, Van McCann, to a crowd whose chanting back of lyrics matched the singer’s enthusiasm.
As the gig drew to an end, the whole venue was still in high spirits, safe in the knowledge that the night was by no means over.
