When you touch down in Ibiza, it won’t be long before you’re looking for the first bar. But where to go?

The music bars dotted around the island are the perfect places to spend the evening in a more relaxed atmosphere, with their (usually) free entry and (comparatively) cheaper drinks, but they’ll also get you warmed up a treat if

1) Blue Marlinyou’ve got your sights set on clubbing later on. Here’s a list of four of the very best bars, including exactly why you should give them a shot:

The ideal place to sit back, catch some rays and sip a stylish cocktail surrounded in luxury. DJs generate the perfect soundtrack to the sunset – which you can watch from an outside chill area – while a fusion of Mediterranean cuisine occasionally interspersed with Oriental flavours makes the bar’s restaurant a must-visit. If you want to hang with the rich, famous and beautiful, Blue Marlin awaits.

Opening times and location: You can party from 10am

until 4am at Blue Marlin in Cala Jondal Bay on the south-west of the island.

What makes it unique? World-class DJs playing weekly sets, live guitar sessions from Paco Fernandez and outdoor beds to bask on, this beachside club defines Ibiza-style indulgence.

Famous link? Leonardo DiCaprio and Queen Latifah have graced this venue, but you’ll also recognise its name from Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Holiday’. Well, if it’s good enough for the Bassline Junkie…

What it’s like inside: Serious luxury. Blue Marlin is mostly set outdoors, and since it’s on a beautiful pebbly beach – with its own area of sandy beach too – it’s hardly surprising. Comfy sun loungers aplenty, this decadent bar offers top-notch service with a restaurant and indoor-outdoor dancefloor.

If you like: Sunbathing surrounded by beautiful people and drinking in an atmosphere that’s sophisticated and chilled out in equal measures, you’ll love Blue Marlin.

An iconic bar that has become a force to be reckoned with in the dance music scene, Café Mambo hosts international DJs such as Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold and Roger Sanchez regularly, while it has also enjoyed appearances from Gro

ove Armada, Faithless, Jamie Cullem and BodyRockers, as well as many more. It’s won two DJ Awards for Best Bar in Ibiza.

Opening times and location: 11 – 4 am, located on the Sunset Strip in San Antonio.

What it’s like inside: A bar decorated with traditional Ibicencan features – mosaics, marble – and a terrace designed to complement the beautiful surrounding area. Be sure to sample the menu, it’s full of classics and contemporary dishes.What makes it unique? It faces one of the most famous sunsets in the world. Café Mambo is the place to go to really appreciate the beauty of the island.

If you like: Stunning views, a relaxed atmosphere and free Wi-Fi so you can catch up with the real world (if you want), Café Mambo is the perfect place to chill for a few hours before you do it all again. Just make sure you’re there for the world-famous sunset celebration.

3) Bora Bora

Just try and stay away from Bora Bora! Its loud music and the crowds of dancing people spilling out of its doors will draw you in as soon as you make it to the beach. Of course, you can see the bar’s alter-ego by visiting it in the afternoon

when a quieter scene will greet you, but as soon as 5pm hits, it’s party time again!

Opening times and location: Open till 6am, Bora Bora is in the middle of Playa d’en Bossa beach.

What makes it unique? It blends beach, bar and club in one huge party. And you’re allowed to dance on the tables!

Famous link? Bora Bora is one of the most famous beach clubs in the world, people! Spotting a celeb or three is likely.

What it’s like inside: Fairly small and intimate, but covered in people. The beach directly outside’s the same, with crowds dancing on tables, laying on sun loungers and generally having a great time until the early morning.

If you like: Crowds going wild and parties that spill out onto the beach, go to Bora Bora.

4) Ocean Beach Ibiza

A new kid on the Ibiza block, Ocean Beach Ibiza is an open-air venue with an impressively-sized 600-square-metre pool, luxurious day beds and champagne parties to ensure a night out with plenty of sophistication. World-renowned DJ’s play poolside, as do carefully selected local and undiscovered talent.

Opening times and location: Events are due to start at noon and last until midnight.

What makes it unique? Every day (and night) is a pool party! There’s also a poolside boutique selling stylish clothes and jewellery.

Famous link? It’s fast becoming a great place to spot the rich and famous, and Lizzie Cundy visited Ocean Beach in a video of the club, snappily called The Hottest New Celebrity Hangout Ocean Beach Club Ibiza.

Famous link? Radio 1 used the cafe as base for its Weekender, where live broadcasts included Pete Tong’s Essential Selection. Kiss FM, 40 Principales Radio (which is broadcast to more than 80 countries), Galaxy FM and Sky Arts have all made use of the stunning location for their broadcasts.

What it’s like inside: Well, outside really. Luxurious sun loungers, a huge pool, a top-quality sound system and beautiful, nearly-naked people.

If you like: Being able to cool off with a quick dip whenever you feel like it, this place is for you.
