Hungry, hungry for caterpillars

With customs rules and regulations varying from country to country, it’s sometimes unclear what passengers are allowed to take on holiday. But surely this lot knew it was a long shot!

A list of the strangest items to be detained at customs, revealed by The Telegraph, includes tens of thousands of dried caterpillars, seized at Gatwick Airport from a 22-year-old man claiming they were for personal consumption.

Other items included a gun-toting stuffed Armadillo sent from Australia to Texas, which never made it to its final destination due to Australia’s strict regulations on animal deportation. And a lady from Sweden, who reportedly tried to smuggle 75 snakes through customs in her bra, was only caught out after repeatedly scratching her chest.
