You’d be hard pressed to find a better value hotel in Portugal than the Velamar. With service and facilities way beyond its 3* rating, it offers a first class experience at a very affordable price.
Healthy, hearty breakfasts set you up for the day, and the friendly, smiley staff are always happy to help with ideas of how to spend your days – unless of course you want to lounge by the lovely, clean pool all day! They’re happy to recommend restaurants for your evening meal, and will even call in takeaway if you can’t really be bothered to leave the hotel! As is often the case, it’s the staff who really make this hotel what it is – good facilities and excellent food mean nothing if they’re not served with a smile, and you get that and more at Velamar.
Rooms are a great size, with huge beds, televisions, squeaky clean bathrooms, and daily cleaning service. The hotel’s location is also excellent, in a quiet area just ten minutes’ stroll from the beach at Olhos d’Agua, which is a lovely little beach with a great selection of restaurants and cafes. It’s about half an hour’s walk from Albufeira town, but if walking isn’t your thing, a taxi will only cost you about 7 Euros and staff are, of course, happy to arrange them for you.
