New research reveals we view our annual holiday as a necessity rather than a luxury, scrimping on other aspects of everyday life, in order to jet off to the sun with loved ones. In fact, we would rather cut back on clothes, gadgets, DIY and eating out, than go without our annual trip abroad.
Of those asked, one in five claim an overseas holiday is essential, with 19% saying they are prepared to spend even more on holidays next year. Holidaymakers aged between 54 and 66 years, went on more holidays this year compared to last and for those under 35 years of age, group holidays with friends proved most popular.
Spending quality time with those we love most whilst relaxing in our idea of paradise, leaves us with priceless memories so it’s no surprise that people cherish their holidays. It’s great to see holidaymakers prioritise going away over splashing out on material goods such as clothes and with more low cost airlines offering new routes next summer, people can look forward to even more affordable travel.
