Holidaymakers yearn for tanned torsos

A recent survey has revealed that for 41% of holidaymakers, yearning for a tan is the top reason for booking a holiday.

The phase ‘tan tourism’, refers to people going on holiday solely for a tan and this survey has found this, to be holidaymaker’s number one priority for booking a beach break. Taking time out to relax is the second most popular reason for booking a holiday, with one in five looking for a bit of R ‘n R and spending quality time with loved ones, surprisingly came third with just 14% of the vote.

Out of these self-confessed ‘tan-a-holics’, a huge 61% say they would have liked to return home with a darker tan, but 12% say they actually regret spending so much time on holiday trying to get a tan. Incredibly, despite being the number one reason for booking a holiday, 34% of those longing for a tanned torso, say they don’t find sunbathing enjoyable.

It’s interesting to see that tanning and relaxing, has been voted ahead of spending time with loved ones. However, with Britain infamous for its fair share of rainy days, it’s no surprise people want to spend as much time as possible working on a tan, so they can return home feeling great.
