A recent study has found holidaymakers splash out on average £1,200 a year – that’s more than £40 billion on holidays each year!
Transport was voted the greatest cost holidaymakers incur overseas, with 38% of the vote. Closely followed by food and drink, with 34% of the vote and a generous 17% of holidaymakers, claim presents and gifts for those back home, is their largest expense.
However, of those asked more than half don’t think they spend too much abroad and more than a third even take extra money with them, just in case.
With our history of poor summers, it’s perhaps no surprise that as a nation, we pay such a high price to secure ourselves some sun. Holidays are often seen as one of the only times of the year that we can completely relax, so investing on time away with loved ones, often results in priceless memories.
