Holidaymakers barmy for Balearic Islands

A recent report reveals the Balearic Islands, located just off the coast of Spain were the most popular holiday destination this summer.

The report, which looks at our booking habits this year, found we are amongst the most organised of Europeans preferring to book early, compared to the Germans who leave it late. We were also found to enjoy an average of 10 days soaking in the sun, whereas holidaymakers from France booked just seven. It comes without surprise that August was the most popular month for us to take our breaks, however the majority of other Europeans were more likely to go on their summer break during July.

Spain and its beautiful islands have also been a popular holiday spot for us, located just a short flight away, boasting beautiful beaches and resorts to suit all tastes. The Balearic Islands offer a great variation for holidaymakers from the European clubbing capital Ibiza, to quiet beauty spots across Majorca. It’s interesting to see as a nation, we are taking longer holidays and despite having enjoyed one of the driest summers in years, many of us still enjoyed some R&R on foreign shores.
